Very cool, this might be footage of the Hansen documentary?
-
Beautiful, it has among others footage shot at the show in Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen 2015!
-
Nice surprise but it has nothing to do with the song, just a very long promo video for the upcoming tour ;D
-

I thought the same thing, let's hope it's just an appetizer, then :P
-
Judging from this short Impression, the Henrik Hansen feature film will be bloody fantastic, finally something that does the genius of MK justice!
-
Nice footage! They have enough material for a live DVD or blu-ray... so come on! ;D
I guess this are a lot of shots from the Hendrik Hanson project, could be very cool indeed! :)
-
What a great video! Beautiful British landscape and lots of guitars, for me the best video he ever put out, or at least the one I enjoyed the most. :)

Really liked that. Except, why cut to him playing acoustic when it is an electric lick (bit making it look like it is played right then) and not doing it with the sax? Overall though, really liked these few minutes. Also, is that the legendary producer glynn johns at around three minutes? Did they do work together?

Yeah, nothing to do with MK or his upcoming tour.

Great! Finally some serious stuff. But to call it "video for the new single Good On You Son" is so stupid as usual. But I guess no one did really expect a proper video clip for the song?
"Mark we need some footage if we want to make a video?" "Wasn't Hansen around for months filming? Ask him I bet he has some material you can use.."

The video seems so random, I especially love the shot of Ferris wheel going up and down :lol
Yeah, not the music video per say, but rather a long-awaited random MK-related video stuff.
-
I'm afraid this was the full documentary :P
-
Do you guess? Or do you know?
LE

I put these screen captures in other thread but maybe they go better here:
- All the band clapping. I recall they did something like this for the song "Privateering", I heard some clapping at the single so it must be it
- Glyn Johns with MK. Maybe he was just paying a visit, I dont recall he was involved in the record nor the musical
- McGoldrick and the accordion player (maybe is the one who played in A shot at glory and Crimson, which name doesnt comes to mind now)
- Ewan Vernal on bass. He was the bassist in some promo gigs and also in the history festival with MK, usually plays with McCusker
-
And Robbie McIntosh

The question what is so special about Hansen us answered with these few minutes. It's filmed awesomely good. Totally stylish and great the same time. I love the backstage footage with the tea.
Lovely captured live scenes, the range, the colours, absolute phantastic. This man is a true artist, no doubt. Hope for 60 minutes minimum.

If A Shot At Glory and an accordion player are Ian Lowthian.

Just a guess, don't worry yet. Its strange that the docu was scheduled for 2018 but we had heard nothing so far. And now they just put the material under the song... I hope i'm wrong ofcourse.

No, it's not.
The documentary will be released later this year unless they want to wait until the Local hero premiere and include more material, but it looks quite complete as some of the scenes looks shot during the musical sessions (Ian Lowthian, Ewan Vernal...) so I guess this could be it and be released later this year, or beguining of next.
It's my guess, not a fact ???

Jbaent "This could be it"... we mean if these five minutes are it.

No, it's not. It's listed in Henrik Hansen as a long documentary, and it was previously annoounced as around 90 minutes with live footage.
This looks like a documentary trailer, maybe it's going to be announced soon...

Normally I am very cautious, too, with my expectations.
But there is too much of already known shooting material left out of the video to be the complete feature film,
e.g. the many cameras at the Poble Espagnol, his filming at Chalke Valley and Guy's diary pic of Henrik capturing them at a US airport.
While not all shot material may be used, it simply seems unrealistic to leave out all of it.
So it must be longer, but 90 min would almost be to much to wish for...
-
Wow. 90 min would be heaven. Better than two concerts :lol

LE
90 minutes is what PCM told some fans (including me) after the Barcelona 2015 concert...
Also in MKNEWS it was published this on 30th June, 2017:
Henrick Hansen, who did the short film for the Tracker album promotion, is to do a Mark Knopfler documentary scheduled for a 2018 release together with an in-concert film featuring live performances from the Tracker tour.
I always wondered if the "together with an in-concert film" means that it would go all in the same documentary or if it would be released apart, like "dvd 2", that's the option that looks more likely according to what the piece of news says but...
-
Hum, may the 2015 concert turn into a 2019 concert footage?
-
Hum, may the 2015 concert turn into a 2019 concert footage?
It would turn everything already shot from 2015 out of time...
-
I do not know why but I watch this video and I think that Good On You Sat could beautifully open MK concerts.
-
Would have been a good promo video for the coming tour but not for a new single.
-
Would have been a good promo video for the coming tour but not for a new single.
It's very well done, just notice that some guitar licks and crash sounds of drums, even some of the claps coincide with sounds of the video, that was made on purpose and very well done.
-
Am I the only one who hears no clapping in the song?
LE
-
Clapping? I do not hear on my single :)

Am I the only one who hears no clapping in the song?
LE
and... can you hear the triangle?
;D ;D ;D ;D
Seriously, there is clapping in the song, but there are so much instruments and things together that you need to listen to it with good headphones or a good stereo.
And there is also a triangle :lol
-
I can hear the triangle very clearly, but no clapping!
-
The triangle is very obvious in the front, no problem with detecting that. . :lol

Clapping can be heard on the chorus and especially on the sax solo I guess to emphasize the snare drum sound.
Although it does get hard to notice, where as in Privateering it's obviously clapping. I listen via laptop speakers.

That must be that strange noise I didn't know what it was...

That must be that strange noise I didn't know what it was...
Also, there's this rattling noise on the first chorus which sounds like somebody's doing inhale and then exhale. To be honest sounds like somebody's smoking.

I noticed that one. First time listening to it with headphones was a bit scary...

Brilliant video, but I don't really see any connection with the song itself.

There is not any connection.
What I dont get is why they didn't use it to announce the documentary with a message at the end. That would had made sense.

On a different note - perhaps you should slow down! :lol

It's pretty low in the playing-out, starts around 4:50 of the track (not of the video). It varies and coincidences with some background vocals until the end of the track.

What a wonderful video, very very nicely done by Hansen.
Somehow I don’t understand the complaints about the absence of a connection to the song. The connection seems very clear, GOYS is a new song by MK and the video shows a portrait of MK (and his band) recording and touring. So much better than previous MK videos/clips, most of them are unwatchable imho (can’t stand seeing great musicians as MK and his band doing painfully obvious playback performances of their own work, what were the thinking?)
So much looking forward to the album! And to a good documentary which hopefully contains full live performances (though I wouldn’t be surprised if only some parts of songs are used and/or are being voiced-over, that’d be be a real let down).

Careful, the LA show linked is for DS Legacy, and for this year. Not talking about the Knopfler Tour.

I absolutely love how they called him "The guitarist" in this article. Not the singer, not the singer-songwriter, but the guitarist.
