Usually that phrase is followed by "ask my father for an amplifier" in Mark's interviews; but maybe it's something different this time, I've not listened yet

That's a pretty friendly description of him just become pretty fat!!! A diet and after that 25 kg less and we'll have the same Mark as usual, plus he won't be out of breath from entering the stage alone. Pretty disturbing to see him this way! He seems to be in good spirits though.

He's earned every right to age the way he wants. However, by the way he signals his appearance at the moment I'm saying the setlists will be the same-old same-old.

why not, weight wise he is more or less like Gilmour now, yes a surprise and a little bit shocked too but all he needs is big and strong hands and he has them

I'm quite shocked too at the amount of weight he has gained since I last saw him in 2015, but I'm sure he can lose it, if he tries, before the next tour starts.

I suspect we may be making a mountain out of a molehill here. Mark is 69 years old now and is ageing just as any ordinary 69-year-old would. It’s one of those things we have to accept. Yes, he does appear to have put on some weight. Nothing unusual. And it did appear to me from the video that he had a bit of a stiff back and a slight limp, which, for all we know, may well be a recurrence of the trapped nerve issue he had during the Get Lucky tour. Perhaps we will see a return of the seat on the next tour. No bad thing in my opinion. It certainly didn’t detract from the performances.

No wonder he talks about scaling down touring when he's in a shape like this.
Don't get me wrong: He's 69, he's done all the touring he needs to do, and he has all the right to take it easy, eat well and gain a few pounds. I don't blame him for anything, but I think we to temper our expectations with regards to a more energetic and less static show during the coming tour.

He is not like Paul Simon Mick Jagger or Roger Waters. All in their 70’s and looking good, fit and in shape.
I wonder how the tourschedule is going to be. Probably the same as usual with a few more gaps... But by the looks of the pictures i understand why he is talking about this could be his last big tour. Then again, what is wrong with being almost 70 and talking about that. It is normal....

I think that the event was pretty much a tribute to him as an artist, a man of huge musical knowledge and an opportunity to distinguish the city of Cesena as a city of music worldwide. Since Tracker, I think Mark is attracted by Italy and its beautiful culture and history, this might be another reason why he attended the event, maybe he bought a house there too, who knows.

While in Italy, I guess he could join Dire Straits Legends now and then. Sit in and play rhythm guitar in Marco's band. Actually, I'd love if Mark had had that type of sense of humor.

I think that the event was pretty much a tribute to him as an artist, a man of huge musical knowledge and an opportunity to distinguish the city of Cesena as a city of music worldwide. At some point he has been asked if he will be touring in italy. He said he will definitely be back in italy next year - sometimes during summer. He pointed out that they have to manage both things next year, the musical and the tour.
It was also quite funny that he also said that the Good on you son Video is not really a video but they just have had film material and did put it together, not really related to the song ;D

It was difficult for me! Regarding Good On You Son he said it was about a person from humble beginnings (in this case in the UK) that has made a success and moved to LA (not sure on the connection there). Alas the interviewer didn't press him and enquire if it was about anyone in particular.
He took some questions from the audience, most of which were inaudible. One encouraged him to retell the Sting in Monserrat on holiday anecdote. Another asked if there was a future for the guitar in music to which Mark answered: yes, but not for me (or something like that).

yeah, nothing really new about the album, the musical or the tour. It was more general, about being a musician and why MK is the musician he is (doing a good song and a good record and then he is happy)

Yes, it's all true. As an Italian, I followed the interview in full. Nothing new about the album. It was only a figurative appearance, as a rock legend but nothing that could intrigue on the new album or some statement on the RARHOF or on the DS.

Regarding his physical appearance: What worries me more than the weight is the slowness with which he moves. Might indeed have something to do with his back problems. Definitely not ideal for touring ... nor for anything else.
The interview wasn't as banal as I'd expected it, the interviewer went a bit beyond the usual. What I found interesting, among other things, is what he said about the kind of character that Good on You Son is about. When I heard that song for the first time (okay, not the first, maybe the sixth, because before that I was too concerned with Guy's production), I automatically assumed that there must be some underlying irony in the lyrics. As in Early Bird, My Parties, Millionaire Blues or even The Fizzy and the Still. But it seems that there isn't in this case. He said in the interview that his honest attitude towards people who've "made it" really is: "Good on you, son. I'm glad for you." Does this make the song less interesting? Maybe. Or maybe the opposite.

Yes, when we had guessed about the tour we always thought it might start late April as sooner because that's when the musical ends in Edinburgh, although we didn't know if MK had to be involved until last date as it's not expected he plays in the musical...

Honestly, I don't see him THAT bad ;) He's never in his "element" in these occasions (a public interview!!) and somehow it could make him less "fluent" with his movements. He's actually got fatter, and tha could be a problem when touring, but he was in a clear good mood and that's what really counts!

Is it just me thinking that the tour is already set and we are just waiting for official release of the dates? Probably in the next 4 weeks. Somehow i found it hard to believe that they are still working on dates and venues......
