Always loved Robbie's playing, already from back in the days when he was touring with Macca. Happy to have met the man whilst he was playing with illsley

Thanks for sharing that! You can listen to the album on all major streaming platforms, by the way. I'll do it now.

Brilliant evening listening to Robbie Mcintosh this evening at our local theatre here in Dorset. Guy mentioned to me today that Robbie couldn't do the 'Loose Ends' Radio show recording today because of his gig this evening.
Robbie & I chatted for a short while afterwards and he spoke highly of MK.
He kindly signed the back of my Down the Road Wherever album. Robbie asked jokingly if he was credited on the album for the two tracks he helped out on, I confirmed he was and he smiled!!

Brilliant! Glad you had a good time! :wave

A fantastic evening was had thanks Val.
Incidentally the support act was Hannah Robinson who had just returned from touring with dear John Illsley!!
Robbie was so laid back during his fantastic show and then afterwards humbly came to the foyer and met with those who were waiting.
Again we had a lovely chat and he stated how he so gets on with Mark. He went on to say that he had played quite a few of MK's guitar collection which he added was very impressive!
So that's MK, Guy, John Mccusker and Robbie who I've met - who's next??!!

Thanks for your report.
Can you elaborate a little more what Robbie said of Mark and of working with him on the new album.
Thanks in advance!

Of course....
The first impression I got from Robbie again was that he liked MK very much and was more than happy to be associated with him. Robbie stated that MK really can't stand various people but Robbie had never had a problem with him personally. I did wonder who he was talking about.
Robbie stated that Mark turns to him as a 'stand in' for Richard Bennett for the 'promo' items and I commented that I would personally like to see him join the main band alongside MK & RB and Robbie smiled at me!
The funny moment came upon production of the 'Down the Road Wherever' album from my pocket, when Robbie piped up 'I hope I'm credited for my two tracks on there'!!! I showed him that indeed he was (Just a Boy & Every Heart) and he seemed thrilled!!
I wanted to ask him about recording 'Just a boy' but Robbie had friend's to meet up with and after shaking both my wife's and my hand, departed.
I cannot complain as he gave me so much of his time chatting and in the end he deduced I was a very keen Knopfler officianado and knew my stuff!!!
Great evening with a guitar legend.....

Thanks fantastic Knopflerfan! He seems like a genuinely nice man. Great :thumbsup
-
Yes, indeed he is a genuine chap albeit quite humble.
The gig itself was fantastic. Robbie has a 5 piece band and the sound they create is something else.
I said to him afterwards I could see some Knopfler influence in his playing and he replied 'of course'!
I purchased Robbies latest album 'Thanks Chet' last night which is a nod to the man himself so I'm looking forward to listening to it soon......

Haha, Jurassic Strat or even tribute to Masiakasaurus perhaps?
Yes, I should have had a Knopfler shirt on really!!!

Thanks knopflerfan for elaborating for us.

Meeting RM was really like meeting MK all over again and all that kind of worry about 'what'll I say' went out the window and you just relax and enjoy the moment!!
You do however leave on a 'high' - Ingridswing has witnessed my 'high' upon meeting MK in 2013!!!!!!

So what sort of stuff does he play? Does he sing as well?

I guess he plays good old rock n roll, blues and also rootsy material all combined with intricate guitar work....
Here is a version of carousel which he played last night
