Now that the album is out and most of us got our FA / Pre-sale seats confirmed, it's time to look forward to the big thing in 2019: The Tour!
Name 10 songs you really hope they play / require them to play! No need for specific order, just write them down :)
The setlist usually differs with one song or two if you compare all concerts, but consider these as the regular 10....
Here are my 10 songs for the setlist without specific order:
1. One Song At A Time (best song on DTRW)
2. Marbletown (did not play in Sweden last time, but mostly elsewhere....)
3. Sultans of Swing
4. Hill Farmer's Blues (really like this song live)
5. What It Is (good starter...)
6. Romeo And Juliet
7. The Ragpicker's Dream
8. Trapper Man
9. Water of Love (like the Vaison 1996 version..amazing..probably not happening, haha)
10. I Used To Could

Maybe MK should play Two Young Lovers on his next tour. I think that it would fit to the setlist. Richard can do the solo. He's got a saxophone-player...
And for the rest, on his new album there are plenty songs to be performed live. Put some others classics like Water of Love, Portobello Belle, Wild West End. Or The Man's Too Strong.
-
With this brand new album, MK can´t not left the chance of playing SEVERAL songs from it (not just 3-4)
A concert with two sets would be nice. But you know, i´m a dreamer...
FIRST SET
1. Trapper man
2. Back on the dancefloor
3. Dovers road
4. Good on you son
5. When you leave
6. Nobody does that
7. One song at a time
TEN MINUTES PEE BREAK AND SECOND SET
8. Border reiver
9. What it is
10. Privateering
11. I used to could
12. Laughts and jokes
13. Haul away
14. Speedway
ENCORE
15. Boom like that
16. Piper to the end
ENCORE 2
17. Matchstick man
18. Going home
Al the end of the day, i´m not asking for something unrealistic or utopic. I only just ask for old representative songs (maybe Boom like that is the exception) and album songs that actually fit with the band capabilities. Nothing from Dire Straits or sountracks.
Few weeks ago i saw Jethro Tull in one of his 50 anniversary shows. An incredible show full of passion, energy, musical quality and respect for a half century musical career. When i was leaving the theatre i had the feeling that the setlist (something very well suited to the desiree of the old fans) were well suited to the price of the ticket (65 euros). It seemed cheap for a moment :p However, a good concert with a good selection of songs from a 30 album career.
On the other hand, when i attend to a MK show, rarely i have these feeling because i feel that a 1.50h show almost cloned from past tours with "comfort mode songs" and strange choices of weak songs is not wothy the price of the ticket.
You see that i critic a lot of things. But my criticism won´t stop me (never does). I´m gonna attend to the show one more time. Do you know about the moment you are seated and the lights go off while the band enter into the stage? I swear you that in that moment, setlist questions won´t have any space in my thoughts ;) Pure joy

Anything would do as long as the set consists well above 50% of songs that haven’t been played at almost every concert for last few tours. And it would be nice if it consists fully of songs that really suit him nowadays, leaving out performances such as sultans which have become quite embarassing to be frank. For a long time I hoped tunnel of love would return, but I honestly believe he isn’t able to do that type of songs any kind of justice anymore. So I would suggest some truly great songs that haven’t been overdone last few tours such as So Far From The Clyde, In The Sky, Portobello Belle, Silver Eagle, Fade To Black, Your Own Sweet Way, One More Matinee, Why Worry, Lions, The Next Time I’m In Town, You And Your Friend, Are We In Trouble Now, Donkey Town, Radio City Serenade etc. And a more then a couple of new ones. Of course this ain’t gonna happen but I’m just thinking out loud what would be great....

I'd just like more variety. The back catalog is huge and I wouldn't mind if Sultans of Swing, Romeo and Juliet, Brothers In Arms, Telegraph Road and So Far Away would never be played again. I've seen shows of almost every tour the last 20 years and yet somehow most of these show up on every set. A shame really when there are so many other songs, both from Dire Straits and solo albums, which always get ignored.
-
Mark play everything but do not forget about Telegraph Road and Brothers In Arms. And Going Home...

When was the last tour he played BIA regularly? 2010 Get Lucky I think.
He stopped playing TR midway through the American leg of the last tour so we can forget about that too unfortunately.

What do you think of the chance they will do Marbletown again this tour? They skipped it in Sweden last time but played it mostly elsewhere.. I would really like to hear it live, really like the version they do live.
Chances should be decent since it involves many instruments including McCusker's violin solo with Glenn's tiny bass riffs :D Also McGoldrick is there with the flute right?.. I really hope it's in the setlists...

I would like this as opener too!!, as long as "what it is" is back in the set somewhere too!! ;D

I hope not. I think it has been played extensively since 2010 and it should be dropped in favour of other songs.

Since 2008 opening night in Amsterdam, actually. I love Marbletown, but having heard it numerous times, I am now ready to move on to other songs, new or rarely played.

It's okay now and again I suppose...
Of course he can't drop R&J purely because the 'average Joe' knows this song!!

MK can drop anything he wants, he doesn't care that much about average Joe's opinion, proved it numerous times by the past. He keeps playing R&J because he wants to.
The only dirty thing he accepts, playing stuff he doesn't like doing any more, when performing for corporate or billionaires.

Yes, very sneaky doing the corporate gigs thing without so much of a sniff of the same for us concert goers.....
-
It would be great if he would do a "greatest hits" concert for fans with the money going to charity rather than a corporate gig for millionaires. Something along the lines of the 2002 Knopfler and Friends ones. These shows were great and the atmosphere at them was fantastic. He could make this an annual event.
