Title: New tour, same big venues
Post by: dmg on February 23, 2019, 12:58:46 PM
Went to see Paul Carrack last night at The Festival Theatre, Edinburgh.  Fantastic intimate venue with a lovely Art Deco interior and also a great history with some big names having tread the boards there including Laurel and Hardy!  Good up-tempo set for someone like myself (that isn't a big fan) including new ones and the big hits that I knew, including my favourite The Living Years.  I got a little overexcited when he said they were going to play How Long but it wasn't the version I was hoping for! ;)

Anyway, it got me thinking about the upcoming concerts and I really wish I was being treated to venues such as that one and seeing Mark play them.  Surely a venue like that with it's beauty and history can truly inspire you - both Carrack and his warm-up commented on it.  Instead we'll mostly be sitting in warehouses.

Sorry if you took this as a rant (it wasn't supposed to be) and I know there are some nice places on the map.

I agree. Would love to see Mark in the Carre theatre in Amsterdam. I mean the Ziggo has great sound but the atmosphere of a theatre, you cannot copy that into a big hall.

Or a tour like Gilmour did, whilst still being large venues, they were historical artifacts
