Could we POSSIBLY, POSSIBLY but probably UNLIKELY, have our much wanted return of TR / Silvertown this evening? ::)
Is it 19.30 start with Juke and then MK+Band at ~21.00 ?
Bacon Roll is stuck in my head at the moment, it sounds quite good live, did not expect that to be honest :thumbsup
-
I don't think neither of them will come back. It's more likely that a new one shows up.

I liked Bacon Roll to begin with but I have tired of it because it is just the same every night and the coda is cringeworthy. In fact, you could say nearly the whole set is repetitive because most of the improvisation came from Sultans and TR.

Maybe it's best not to listen to so many YouTube videos, then you wouldn't tire of the songs so quickly - if you have the will-power of course! :) Sometimes I think it's best to just go to the concerts and have a surprise.

A while ago you said it was cool! :hmm
-
If you went to see 20 performances of a West End musical, a Shakespeare play, Vivald's Four Seasons, etc. it would get boring and tiring. Mark's tours too are not geared toward multiple-show "consumers", so this kind of moaning/complaining is really unreasonable.

That's why I said "to begin with" in my comment above. :) And I'm afraid I don't have the willpower! :smack

-
I don't know if it happens to you as well: during the day when I happen to rethink that this will be Mark's last tour I get a mixed rage and anger that the people around me tell me: All right? and I reply: you could never understand :disbelief :disbelief :disbelief :disbelief
-
any more updates ?
They played MFN and BIA, not sure about Speedway or Local Hero.
-
Silvertown is back ;D ;D ;D ;D
To be honnest I had 5% chances to go to that show but the removal of SB convinced me not to try a crazy trip.
-
12. SILVERTOWN BLUES :thumbsup
Great news
-
OES out I believe...
-
For SB, he can take out whatever he wants.
Even the loss of Marbletown is acceptable
-
OES out I believe...
I should've known bringing Silvertown back was too good to believe. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.
-
What a night !
Songs very well played.
Silvertown back ! So it was not a rare song that I got in Barcelona after all :) everything comes with a price, so no OES... I would have much preferred no CBC... oh well.
But the news of the night is... The return of the finger of death, 11 years later ! Well,.kind of. A soft form. At the beginning of Romeo, Mark said softly: "Please stop filming. It puts me off. Merci beaucoup, thank you very much". Ouch !!
Even though I was 5th row center, I managed to end up first row just below Mark at the run of the bulls. A hell of a MFN and BIA ! If only some morons could stop yelling in my ear and singing (falsely) rhe lyrics...
-
Thanks Herlock. He is having some fun on MFN.
This finger of death nonsense really is a bit much. It may be a sad sight to see but it is what it is so accept it. He truly is the old fashioned guy in Bacon Roll.
-
Fabulous yesterday ! Punchy, detailed, smiles from the band. The guitar hero was there and happy to be there. Very good licks and arrangements on the guitar.

I promise I won't film next tour. :'(

He plays Silvertown so similar than he does in the record that it cuts any chance of a great solo in the end. It could had been epic but you know that when the final comes, it's a "coitus interrupts" ;D
-
So he said yesterday during R&J "stop filming please it's putting me off".. was it to all cellphones in action??
Their policy says he has nothing against recording/photos if it's for private non-profit use... But i can understand if hundreds of cellphones is a bit distracting.
On the other hand i can understand that fans really want to make memories this time on the last big tour... Since they probably won't make any DVD of the tour either, how can we have any footage if not doing it ourselves? :hmm
-
I would not attend a concert by Mark Knopfler and spend time watching/filming it through a phone!! why go?

Personally I wouldn't do it either but I'm so glad others spend the time to do so. It documents the shows on his final tour and this is important, especially as we don't have a live solo DVD and for some fans he isn't visiting their continent.

Exactly my thoughts...
Say what you want about Mark's request and fans ignoring it, but this is to really create memories from the last big tour. Both his fans and his music deserve it :thumbsup

I have just watched some clips from this concert, and Mark is getting better and better, fantastic performance, I will be downloading this one. Mark is getting more fluid with his playing too, and this was a week ago now, so he must be even better now.
-
Richard said it takes a couple of weeks to get the shows really going. I think that's too long for a band of this calibre. That's what rehearsals are for. Mark shaking off his rustiness on the road is really a bit crazy. Or lazy.
