Let's see if Trapper / Back on the dance floor appears...

Let's see if Trapper / Back on the dance floor appears...
Which one is having better chances? :think

Is there today supporting act?

Is there today supporting act?
No support tonight. Only in London and some of the French concerts.
-

Dance Floor. Trapper has a chance somewhere between zero and nil. The vocals are too energetic for him and some of the licks are to fast to be easily played live now. He's more comfortable playing MM alongside the folkies these days.

Maybe. However, also vocals in the chorus of Back on the Dance Floor might be tricky.

More difficult to play than MFN, which is well played now ? ;)
Anyway I don't understand why TM is so appreciated here, it sounds dull to me. Dance Floor would have been great as an opener, but I'm perfectly satisfied with WAM, best version since 2002, and I never got a chance to hear live before...
I would be more interested in OSAAT, would be a great conclusion. Any chance ? Seems tiny... :(
Although I like the set list, I appreciate Bacon Roll and MM and their live renditions a lot, and I'm glad that NDT is dropped (dull), 2 good songs are too little to do justice to the new album. Privateering got close to 10 played live ! OSAAT, Dance Floor and Nobody's child, and maybe GOYS, should be there as well...
-
My wish for Silvertown worked well yesterday, as long as we know it will re-appear here and there, fine...
Just hope my concert pick was lucky enough to have it featured :thumbsup
A dream would be SB+TR+BIA, but won't happen I guess.. as long as one of the latter two are played, that's fine with me...

Row 8, seat 11. That's to the right of the stage I think
-
BOTDF or TM instead of CBC and it would be perfect..
-
1. Why Aye Man
2. Corned Beef City (noticed Mark sang 2nd verse in the last too, normally does the 1st one twice?)
3. Sailing To Philadelphia
4. Once Upon A Time In The West
5. Romeo And Juliet
6. Bacon Roll
7. Matchstick Man
8. Done with Bonaparte
9. Heart full of holes
10. She's gone
11. Your latest trick

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!!

I think that in a couple of years, or even before, Mark will prepare another album, and maybe not thinking about a tour that lasts 6 months but rather 2 months with 15-20 dates, many in England and Scotland, it is likely that he visit a couple of coutries that are always dear to him, like Germany and Holland, the first in absolute that have recognized his talent, so I would not be surprised that he returns to Germany rather than to other countries :thumbsup :thumbsup

Drop CBC, for the love of good taste !
I think I prefer it live to YLT. I really cringe at how bad it is performed live, especially solo. Even during DS days it was very weak. The only one I find decent was the one from the final Sydney concert '86.
-
Going to the Birmingham show at the end of the month and am having real issue with choosing between whether I want to hear Silvertown or OES! DMG is right as OES is a classic whereas I’ve never heard Silvertown live. But OES was the first song I ever learnt to play on the guitar but I reckon Silvertown could be the highlight of the show!! Conflicted much :think
I rarely make a comment on the set list but I think they need to drop HFOH. It’s a nice song but I don’t think it works in a live set, the 1-2 punch of SB & OES would surely work a better I feel

With the incremental rise in ticket costs each tour they can afford a golden cittern!

Indeed, I think the show drags too much in the middle. Much too slow and things like HFOH (worthy though it is) and YLT do nothing to help.

Well... Yes and no.
The thing is, the studio version is unmatched live, especially because of the wonderful intro that was always dropped.
86 version was full of cheap synth. 92 versions were dull, with just Danny's percussions. All in all, 2015/2019 versions are best to me, because She's gone is a good intro (not as good as the album though), and the LP sound is good. Graheme sounds good too.
-
Why do you guys want to drop anything but CBC, which is the obvious weak and overplayed song in the set ? Take today's setlist, CBC out, OES back in, and you have a very nice set. HFOH is new live, touching and well played, it should be given a chance...

I don’t mind the sit down section but it’s been the same since the first show. Maybe swap in a couple different slower ones? Drovers Road or Go Love for example

Just listened to it again, seems similar to 92, same simple percussion intro...

I prefer the sound of the Gibson Super 400 on it but I suppose that's a personal preferrence, however because it cannot match the studio version live I reckon it's better to change it completely as in '86 and play it with his Chet Atkin's (?) acoustic. It had energy, pace and a much, much better vocal.

@tollgate: Drovers' Road sounds good to me! I just think there's a lot of slow tracks all the way from Bacon Roll right up to Silvertown now and when the main performer is sitting down it doesn't transfer much energy to the audience either.

Just got home from Cologne. First sleep. In the morning I will spam you with my pics ;D .
For now here's a little lullaby I've recorded tonight :lol

I have been in Cologne, too.WOW. WHAT A NIGHT! He could play the whole night. I didn't watch the setlist of the previous concerts and I was positively shocked.
His performance was amazing. He sings which so much soul and it seems like he is enjoying every moment. And he repeats in R&J the "you and me babe, how about it" at the end. That shows me that he wants to perform as good as he can.
To his goodbye speech. He said in German that he has to retire, he is very old. But he loves the music too much. The other guys should retire, too. But it would be very difficult to retire, specially with this guys. So let us hope he will change his mind and will play a few concerts again.
THIS SONGS ARE TOO BEAUTIFUL. IT WOULD BE VERY SAD IF THEY WOULDN'T BE PLAYED LIVE AGAIN.
I am a young MK fan so I could only see him at the Privateering and Tracker tour. This concert was by far the best I have seen from him. This was for us fans. I did not expect see so many DS songs and than they played so nice versions of them. It remembered me many times on "On the night" AWESOME! Fantastic that they played BIA. First time I have heard it live. OUATITW was incredible. He can't retire if he stays in this shape. What a beautiful evening.

Fantastic, glad you had a good evening, and as my two concerts are approaching I have stopped reading the negative remarks along with any social media videos so I can enjoy 'The Master' for what may be two last times....
Can you send me the serial number and date of manufacture (if known) for your Fender MK Strat so I can add you to the owners register please.... :wave

I did not expect see so many DS songs and than they played so nice versions of them. It remembered me many times on "On the night" AWESOME! Fantastic that they played BIA. First time I have heard it live. OUATITW was incredible. He can't retire if he stays in this shape. What a beautiful evening.
So pleased you enjoyed the concert, GuitarChris! :)
Your review is confirmation that we should do exactly what you have done - just go to the show without looking at setlists, having speculations and post mortems, etc and enjoy it as it comes - without any expectations! I would love to do the same, BUT I don't have the willpower! ;)

So it was a decent performance, but not outstanding (to me). This setlist lacks a killer track to make it a suberb show. "All fillers, no killers".
That said I really enjoyed being there. Had to fight security though to breach through for running of the bulls (that bastards were preventing us to get in front). Secured a spot at the right front rail after all. It was great to hear OUATITW en SB live finally.
Looking at Mark's big sigh after Going Home I think he's really struggling every night.
Here are some pics from last night. More (and a review in dutch) are on the link below

MFN is awesome this tour, much better than the slimmed-down version of 2005. That tone is killer, it's so powerful and raw, personally I find it better than during any previous DS or MK tour.

I was in Cologne yesterday too. Overall it was a great show. One of the best MK shows I have seen oder the last 20+ years. From my point of view this band is the best of all his solo tours. Its a great mixture. I could moan abou the set, exspecialy because of the missing of my all time favorie TR. But as is band is so great even the lower part in the middel of the set was very well played and a joy to listen. MK still plays great licks and his singing is better than on the last tour, but my guitar hero has changed to a singer / songwriter and I´m fine with it (I´m surprised by myself by wrtiting this).
I´m looking forward to Oberhausen und wish yo all so much joy as I had yesterday for the comming shows.

Yes, it was wonderful. You will enjoy your concerts for sure!
It was great not to know what he will play. I was very familiar with the beginning of OUATITW but needed a while to recognize it. Then I thought that can't be true. What a surprise! What a great band. I am very pleased that I could see this great musician (for me by far the best musician of the world) playing with full devotion a wonderful concert.

I think that is one of the advantages of the Kemper, you can tweak the sound until you have exactly the tone you've imagined. His boutique amps in the past had a great tone, but not for this song.

That was exactly my fear looking at the set and listening online regarding the set, but I'll accept it. I'll always go to see Mark no matter what he plays. There isn't a decision to be made.
MFN does indeed sound fab this time. Perhaps the highlight of the show.

Yes we should be happy with current set in terms of opener, classics, surprises etc..
Only thing they should stick to is to have at least Brothers or Telegraph in the set, have worked so far.. skipping both would make me disappointed so hopefully we won't see that :thumbsup

It was an amazing night.
Highlights for me: Sailing to Philadelphia, Once upon a time in the west, the long intro to Matchstick Man (i have never witnissed him talking so long to the audience, i really loved that), Silvertown Blues, Money for Nothing, Brothers in Arms.
But also a very good Speedway, and i liked the opening with WAM/CBC! It's energetic this way.
I thought he skipped Silvertown when they started Paraguay, i didn't know they switched places in the set now, so i was very happy when Silvertown started! :D
Next week 2 times RAH! Can't wait!

Great! What did you think about the new rhythm on Why aye man?
-
What about giving What it is the brassies treatment, like WAM ? :D
Ok then Mark can resurrect TOL with the folkies performing both the keyboard and guitar parts!
Blasphemy ! I call the exorcist :D
Here it is, the exorcist!

Incredibly positive reviews!
Bye the way, I have the feeling that Mks physical condition has improved the last days. I think he even lost some of his kilos as compared to the beginning of the tour looking at the cologne videos, but not sure ...

I agree.
Which is amazing if you take into account what Guy writes about all the great food and drink!
-
I have said the same elsewhere, and I think it is just down to the fact he is more active every day on tour, plus he might be using eating different food than the rest of the band, Guy hasn't said about what Mark eats, or does.
