I am guessing either:
*Same set as yesterday, except BIA replacing PTTE (16 in total)
*A shorter 15 song-set due to airport stress to Denmark... :hmm

What are you guys talking about?
LE
Apologies. The stream is constantly interrupted by an old Hillbillies show.
-
Connection of some stream stopped, and when resumed they played why worry. Then they played water of love... then i realised the broadcaster put on some other concert (NHB 98) :smack
-
Ah ok thank you. You guys are really still listen to the streams every night? Wow. It's the same sh.. every night isn't it? Couldn't bother. You really deserve a medal for being the best and most loyal fans in the world. :clap

I've got a feeling that today Mark is so tired that they'll play a very short set, with Your Latest Trick as the encore. Then straight to bed. :D

Can't agree with the sh#t word in your comment. MK music is never that my friend!

Just back from tonight's gig.
Extremely happy to hear this fresh setlist even though it is carved in stone. I actually thought I would care about that, but no. It was a real pleasure to finally be free of the Marbletown and So far away shackles. Not the best gig I've seen. But I myself was better too at most things ten years ago. :)
Is it the best I've seen from a 70 year old? Hell yes.
I'm very fortunate to have one more gig to attend.
From people I know that was in Stockholm I heard that Gothenburg was better than Stockholm in terms of everything really.
Tonight's big thing was that MK held a speech where he said he first thought of retiring but being out playing makes him feel better/happy. "So I might as well go on until I fall over. *flips forearm forward *"
So the exact opposite to retirement speech. Very interesting.

From a Rolling Stone interview in 1985: https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/mark-knopfler-fearless-leader-126242/
"Do you have any idea what you’ll be doing twenty years from now?
I’ll be in clubs, playing. I’ll fall over onstage, dead, someday. I’d like to work on a smaller scale again, play some small clubs."
-
Great interview. Thanks hunter:)

About which band is he talking then? Not about early DS right? Long before that?

This is a great interview that I've watched several times. I love his Dylan impersonation at about 10:25.

Funny, in more than 20 years from that interview he still is playing bigger and bigger arenas ...

Does anyone actually think he should do another tour? I recognise we all want him to go on forever but realistically we want a great show with some guitar playing in it. I think he should call it a day now because while the shows are generally well played they don't actually contain much in the way of guitar playing and are at a snail's pace. He can't just want to keep going because he's raking in money and meeting up with old pals to play music. Sorry to be blunt about it.

I'm with you on this dmg with regards actual tours....'Quit while you're ahead' as the saying goes...
One off show's (ie) RAH etc might be different in that he could practice for them without all the Kerfuffle of touring.....

I think that when he release a new record, that he said he will, probably he would want to play some shows, maybe one month in selected places, maybe a week or less at the RAH, but I guess he would want to complete the whole cycle as usual, but in a lower scale.
-
Yeah, it's actually a bit sad to see how he is now. :(

There is this question and answer today on Guy's forum:
Q: [...] My only worry is MK’s physical motion on stage. I see him walking very, very slowly and I ask myself if there are some back problems again. As it is a long tour, I would suggest the stool as a full show equipment since I have seen MK playing better than ever while sitting down. Is he allright? [...]
A: None of us are spring chickens but yes, Mark is in a good place…and getting better thanks.
Whatever that means.
-
I think "getting better" implies there was a problem, and he is getting over it.

I got that much :) I'm curious what the problem was as the man has/had a hard time moving around, even gently. Could be the back.

Or as my doctor is fond of telling me when I complain of a bad back, it's age related aches and pains

I was thinking of the back problems he had a few years ago when he had to sit during the whole show. Maybe those problems have returned in some form or the other.

I agree, it's got to be more than age, or Guy would not have made the "getting better" comment.
-
Maybe he's just taking better care of him while touring :think

Yeah. I don't think there's much in it. Probably just getting fitter being on the road and getting more exercise.
Bear in mind he stood up for Bacon Roll in the first shows, so if he did have any problem then I think he would've introduced the stool at that point from the start of the tour.

Might just as well refer to his playing as this is mentioned in the question. Guy rarely gives away personal info re MK so guess it refers to his playing

I would love a new tour. I´ve seen him since the STP days, and I can´t remember having enjoyed it as much as I do now. All of my favourites are the more slow ones with all the delicate guitar stuff, so for me this tour has been really good. I´m really not into pace when it comes to music, and "Once upon" makes up for most of the songs I will never get to hear live. But that´s me. I´m lucky, I suppose, who sees it that way...

You can post the video of Speedway in this thread or the one about his biggest greenies!
Maybe the week off hasn't been such a good idea. He was just getting into his stride.

Just throwing this one out there.....
I wonder if mark is on any pain medication because I know from experience that anything at the stronger end of the opiate based stuff can send you rapidly from guitar god to jabbering one note busker in 20 minutes flat (Or in the case of my guitar abilities, poor mans knopfler clone to dead penguin).
Not wishing to create or pour any metaphoric fuel on a conspiracy but it could explain a fair bit, and I'm sure on those leaflets you get in the box it says something along the lines of don't operate heavy machinery, don't drive, and don't attempt guitar herodom whilst under the influence.... :lol

I noticed Mark told someone to turn something off during WAM..
"Turn that off please... Turn that off!! Thank you"
Was it camera flashlight?

Yes. Some idiot was filming with the phone and used the constant flashlight for better lighting. Probably a mistake but doesn't people know this stuff about their stuff?

You're underestimating the level of people's stupidness :lol
I especially love going to a classic music recital and there's always mobile phone ringing, coughs and camera flashes everywhere. May be THE reason I've abandoned the idea of being a classical musician :lol

I really don´t understand why they just don´t say that people are not allowed to film or take photos during the show. "Every" night there is a situation where Mark´s performance is disturbed by someone who think it would be great to have the whole show recorded on their iPhone, just to never watch it again... The current policy seems to be too complex for people to understand, and I am not sure if Mark is able to separate the different recording devices that are allowed and not allowed from the stage...
