Looks like MK is looking forward the end of this tour very much... Having three options to add songs to the encores, like piper, brothers or so far away, two songs never performed like trapper and back dance floor, and one song he already played like nobody does that, this repetitive 15 short songs set looks a little like: "let's do it as quick as we can, back to the hotel, and a day less to finish“

I really don't think that is the case, if that was the case why would he tour at all? he knows what touring is like, he has done it for decades, so it's nothing new, this tour is no where near as long and demanding as the Brothers In Arms tour, where from the video clips, you can see he exhausted. I bet in that tour he couldn't wait for it to end, but this one, I'm not so sure, as this could be his last one, I am sure he wants to enjoy it as much as he can.

Yes. I can see that he wants to enjoy this 15 same songs as much as he can, despite the fact he has some more he can play but, this 15 songs... are so much perfect, such a joy, why spoil it expanding it to 16 or 17...
Nah, the sooner it finish, the sooner he gets to the hotel.

To be honest, at the end of the show I was disappointed that he didn't play more songs but then I thought, listen:
1- the guy is 70 years old
2- the show lasted 2 hours
3- playing 2 hours without a break, hat off, sir !
4- At a certain age, the frantic rhythm of the tour between the airports, concert halls and hotels within 24 hours must be horrible for some of the guys in the whole team (musicians, tech, management...)
As Mark says, you really have to like doing what you do. :clap
So, for me, it's "thank you Mark for coming to Montreal" :)

3- playing 2 hours without a break, hat off, sir !

I am always really grateful that I can see him, especially on this tour when his health is not so good. I get tired if I attend more than two concerts in a row and I'm only in the audience! Mark has to be there for every concert, whether he feels tired or even ill. There is no-one to take his place if he loses his voice, has an upset stomach or worse, as happened in 2010. The band can manage if one of them falls ill, but it would be nigh impossible if MK was very ill on tour! I never take him for granted.
Apart from that, it would be nice to have a few more options with songs so it doesn't become so repetitive after a few concerts, especially for those attending multiple shows.

Fair points there. We should remember that North America is VAST and travelling alone is the most tiring aspect. Touring the UK was great for him I think, but now he's travelling huge distances it will take its toll on a man his age.
@Val: remember the band, including Mark, took ill during 2015 too. Mark was ill around the Spanish dates.

Yes, I do remember that, but it could have been much worse if MK was completely incapacitated and it could easily have happened in 2010!

Yes, but the context is different when you're a certain age.
Travelling is part of the package, but the energy is no longer the same as when you are 30 or 40 years old, travelling for days, months, waiting at the borders and customs of several airports, going on stage and singing/playing for 2 hours, which means staying focused on your texts and instruments, "and crazy fans ;D" then after the concert taking the opposite path, omg I am tired.

It's very hard, like wsking up at 5 in the morning for 11 months per year to work hard during between 8 and 10 hours per day, 5 days per week, often traveling two hours per day just to get to work and back home, until you are 68 years old and can retire, if lucky.
Yes, it's so hard.

Just that making life of the exhausted worker better (or worse!) won't change anything in the fact that touring is physically and mentally demanding. They both are each of their own.

All works are demanding on their own. But some of them enjoy so much luxury that demanding has another very different meaning. Much lighter.

the time between sound check and show, Graeme and Tom wandered round the city in search of the grave of Charlie Parker, Tom send me a couple of the pics they took illustrating the city’s devotion to the legacy of that era. It must have been quite a scene back then. Mark wrote a song about it intended for the last album which remains an unreleased gem.

Touring is hard! I've done tours before and it's exhausting. Granted not in the same luxury as mark, I can only imagine even in luxury conditions, at the age of 70 it would be absolutely draining. Marks (i'm guessing) back problems also would make the shows pretty exhausting. Surely he would be on pain meds not to mention physio therapy? Even doing 3 gigs a week and driving 20 minutes from my house i'm pretty tired by the end of those nights and i'm half the age of mark.
He keeps the setlist static to play to his strengths and keep it predictable. He has to shorten the set sometimes when he's not feeling up to it. I think that's perfectly justified.
