Lol I'm not usually into "reaction" videos, but it's so funny to see casual listeners to react to DS. Couple of their lines cracked me up. And my initial reaction was the same...

Thats so cool, I love their reaction to it. They need to watch Alchemy.
-
Thanks! I enjoyed watching their reactions, but it was interesting to hear that they thought it was a duet between Mark and David.

I loved it!
It's interesting how they noticed a lot of the little things that makes this song special in just one listen.
Without being into rock they manage to grasp what this is all about.
I watched a similar video a couple of days ago but it's nowhere near as interesting as this one, you basicaly had two potheads headbanging away while listening to sultans of swing.
Thanks for sharing

I think what they meant was the overall connection between rhythm guitar and lead guitar, what theoretically could happen should they really record it together MK and David, but from my understanding Mark recorded all the parts himself in this iconic version, right? When I heard it the first time, I really couldn't tell which sound I like more — rhythm or solo guitar, because they're both insanely cool.

Also the pronunciation part was funny, because I as a fan obviously became accustomed to Mark's surname long time ago, but every time I mention it to someone I think "how I'm going to pronounce it?", especially in a foreign language it sounds strange. So nothing strange here as well, not the easiest name to say indeed.

It is hard to believe that they hadn‘t heard neither this song nor about DS before!

I don't find it hard to believe since it's like nobody knows who MK is. Or DS... Unfortunately. Their music is famous, but not Pink Floyd or The Beatles famous, if you know what I mean. When I was 14-15 I've heard everything from The Doors to Floyds, Lynyrds, Sabbaths, you name it. But I never heard about Dire Straits.
Today, when I say "I do some stuff on YouTube, only 10k subs, not a big deal", people say "what exactly you're doing on YouTube?". "Mark Knopfler lessons mostly", I usually say. And they like: Mark who???

Yea, you must be right. I am just watching a tv show about the Eighties, they talked about MTV and just showed a 10 second clip of MFN without mentioning DS😒

They need an MK box set ...

Loved it :)
