Which maybe means he has already written new songs (at least the lyrics)?

That is a ridiculous and forgive me, stupid comment. Is it? He is 70 years old so the man is at risk. You can't throw money at a virus.

Yeah, but unlike the thousands upon thousands who suddenly are shut out from their jobs and losing their livelihood, Mark has enough money to fly in fresh food and toilet paper on a private jet for a couple of lifetimes.

Let the man make a sizable donation somewhere to help out.

Totally agree with you, hola, especially as MK wasn't in the best of health last year and is in the vulnerable age bracket.  Even with his wealth, he is just as much at risk as anyone else.

You can't throw fresh food and toiletpaper at a virus too. How terrible it is that people are shut out from their jobs, losing there livelihood. Mark TOO is vulnerable at his age. Doesn't matter how rich you are.

You have no clue what MK has or hasn’t done with his money.

He has done loads of charity work over the years.

Your negativity is not what we need right now Hunter.

And it's none of our business if he wants to donate something or not. It's his money... I'm glad to hear a message from our man.

I don't get all those people asking rich to donate money, as if they have to, just because they have money...

In Spain there is a person who run a clothes company which is one of the most rich people of the WORLD, and as other rich people he uses tax tricks to avoid what he should pay in taxes for Spain. It is allowed to do that, of course, it's not fair, but it's legal.

Now that person says he's buying with his money medical supplies, masks etc for the country with his fortune. He doesn't need to do that, but he does it from time to time, and it's welcomed, although it's a little weird that you first avoid paying taxes for your country, that will be used for things like, health care, and where is a crisis, suddenly he donated what it's needed. Weird, but in the end, welcomed.

My point is, from this gesture, lot of people are asking why other rich Spanish people don't do the same. Curiously, all those rich people are linked with the left parties of the country. They don't ask rich people linked with the right party to donate although they always show how pride are from being Spanish. Weird again but, that's not the point either...

The point is, WHY THE F*CK RICH PEOPLE ARE EXPECTED TO DONATE ANYTHING?

They don't have to. If they do, THANK YOU, but it doesn't mean anyone has to EXPECT or DEMAND the others do it!!!!

MK position with his message is just being kind and sympathetic with the rest of mankind. And he offers himself to start recording as soon as he can to help us with what he does best.

MUSIC

And music is what I expect from him. Not more. He doesn't have to do anything else, if he doesn't want to. And if he does, welcome, whatever the reason he does it.

I don't expect anyone to donate anything, but a "take care, hang in there" message from people whose only worry is to stay away from other people - which is not so hard to do if you have a mansion on a huge private property on the coast - really does not mean that much. It's NICE that Mark for once makes a statement, but it means less to me than if one of you guys said it. And that he finds it pressing, at this point, to get into the studio to make music, which is all about pleasing himself (don't forget that), I honestly think is ridiculous.

MK's post meant a lot to me and the fact that he is going into the studio to record new songs for us is something to look forward to in these very dark times.  I'm sure he is pleasing himself, but why shouldn't he?   He is doing something to give us pleasure too and, my goodness, we need something good to look forward to with all the doom and gloom around.

Exactly. We all need normality in these crazy times. For me, a message from Mark is a ray of hope, joy and normality..

I think Mark's statement show's empathy for people who are less fortunate than he is. His money means nothing to the virus, same with Tom Hanks, Idris Elba, etc. He still needs to get food for his family, like we all do, and I would think he gets it from the same shelves we all do. He frequents the local pub near his studio, so, he is not so aloof as some other famous people.

Mark, our Savior. Give me a break.

He's not trying to be.
All he did was post a nice positive message.
It's how you react in times like this that show what type of person you are.
Unfortunately hunter you are not doing yourself any favours by doubling down with every bitter posting.
You made the point that you didn't appreciate MKs message-many did-so just leave it at that.
I wish you luck in your efforts to deal with the current situation and hope you come out the other side.

Actually, MK could had a better detail with all his fans closed at home recording himself with a guitar playing whatever for us... If it's a new track, better, but, anything. That would be an absolute great thing to help his fans with this...

But a nice message, it's nice. Better than nothing, although he hadn't to do anything.

So many artists doing that kind of thing, recording videos for his fans, uploading cool stuff on his YouTube accounts to make the fans happy. So great!

Reading Mark’s message warmed my heart in these difficult times. It was lovely to read some positive words from my biggest musical hero. He is in the same big boat as the rest of us, and it’s good to know that he is with us and that he cares enough about his fans to put a message out there, whilst also giving us something to look forward to. I honestly don’t see how anyone could possibly have a problem with that.

mark just does not shout out from the rooftop, every time he donates. just like Gilmour. they are very decent blokes who happen to be very fortunate.
i get your point, but as said, even with the best of security measures and money, they cannot prevent being "touched" by the virus. look at Tom Hanks as an example.

The guy is incredible, both as a songwriter and musician. He may not play lead guitar like Mark, but he plays very sophisticated fingerstyle stuff. Mark sounds pretty rough in comparison.
