Hi everyone... In there a topic on this... ? Sometimes, i saw a movie or a serie, and i hear songs or some parts oMK music...
-
Hi SamGolden,
You mean, in which movies or series can we find a MK song or parts of it --- apart from the soundtracks that he wrote, of course?
For instance, I recall hearing Darling Pretty in the 1996 film Twister.
-
Interesting thread, and I'm sure we've discussed this old chestnut before but it will be good to see some contributions....
also although not a series or film 'WOL' was used in the most recent advert for ASDA!!!! :o
-
"Young Sheldon" first episode starts with him playing with a train while "Walk of Life" sounds. The best way to start a new comedy!
-
Honestly, I don't know about Mark's music sounding good in any movie, but any one of his songs would make it a perfect song for the credits for sure.

A few of the top of my head:
The Sopranos - dance version of MFN heard in a gay bar (!)
Bandits (movie) - Gravy Train
Dusk Till Dawn - Six Blade Knife
Bohemian Rhapsody - Sultans
Argo - Sultans
-
MFN was used in "Kingsman - The Secret Service" I think.
-
Desperado - Six Blade Knife.
Spy Game - Brothers In Arms.
Miami Vice - Brothers In arms.
Ride Across The River.
Riding High - Solid Rock.
-
BIA on Miami Vice is legendary
My start with DS music

From the BiA Wikipedia page
"The song appeared in the second-season episode "Out Where the Buses Don't Run" of Miami Vice, the third-season episode "I Coulda Been a Defendant" of Due South, and the second season finale of The West Wing, "Two Cathedrals".[10] In each instance, it is used over the climactic scenes of the episode. It was also featured in the 1991 film McBain, the 2001 movie Spy Game and most recently in the series finale, "START", of The Americans as well as the episode "Say Again Your Last" in SEAL Team. It was used as the title music to the 1992 BBC drama series Civvies. The song also appeared in the series finale of Supernatural (American TV series)."

Interesting that Mark refuses offers from people who want to use his music in music TV shows, and yet he agrees on using so many of his songs in movies when the majority of viewers won't even notice it. Take Darling Pretty in the 1996 film Twister, it's playing on the radio for a bit in a pitch-corrected version, the song is barely recognizable. And yet, in the music shows where the actual accent is on the music he refuses offers from people wanting to perform his music.
I know this is because he hates the music business and TV shows, but I thought that's an interesting fact to pinpoint.

Apologies, yes, Desperado not Dusk Till Dawn, I mixed them up (both Banderas and Rodrigues mid 90s) :)

Here's a weird one. In a cult 1997 Russian movie "Brat" a bit of "Don't You Get It" was used. Here around 1:32:40 mark:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDaaCGZz-Ok
I don't know whether it was officially used though, knowing Russia I wouldn't be surprised it was just put there accidentally. But you have it nevertheless.
-
I read in IMDB that MK had a song in a film titled "Issina" or something like that, but never found info about it.
-
Thanks for the interesting thread. :thumbsup
Since I`ve not been a big TV or movie watcher I had no idea how many songs were used on films.
It seems that BIA is the one that had been used the most in movies or series until now.
-
BIA in The Americans has an important role in the last episode of the final season. Magic series, by the way.
