Hmm. In two minds about this one. I was hoping, on the off-chance, that we might get a special coloured vinyl edition of Golden Heart to celebrate its 25th anniversary year but no such luck. I suppose as this didn’t happen for Sailing to Philadelphia’s 20th anniversary, then there was even less chance of it happening for Golden Heart! Should have known better…

I think a re-release of ExtendedDancEPlay 12-Inch through Record-Store-Day will not so desirable, as some other rare issues incl. more rare songs, because it is very common and easily to get.
Encores will be a good idea, like the 2-7-Inch Set with the Demo-recordings.
But it is my opinion, only.
Also cool will be a new edition of On The Night Live 2-LP-Set, or rather Golden Heart or Sailing to Philadelphia as vinyl-versions. :think :think

Your Latest Trick was the single from the album, to promote it via radio play. Then the other tracks were a bonus, or for completists to buy both.

I always bought my cds in local music stores but "modern times" ruined it in the end, "Shangri-La" was the last MK cd I bought in a local store, when "All the roadrunning" came out, there wasn't any local music store where I lived, a town of almost 30.000 people, so I had to travel one hour by train to the closest city with one, Valencia... and with no time to do such travels and being impossible to find MK records the day of their release (I visited 5 stores, two of them big chains when DTRW was released with no luck at all...) I ended buying everything online... I've no time to waste traveling one hour to Valencia and another hour back home with empty hands...
F*ck*ng modern times.

Usually the answer is "We don't know, it should arrive on friday (usually the release date) but we won't know until we open the box", and then, you arrive on friday and they didn't receive it, or say they would receive it later or whatever other excuse...

With one of the MK records I waited a couple of weeks, as I had the mp3, but open the real thing the release date, or two, three days letter is for me, as a fan, part of the experience, having to wait so much ruins it, so unfortunately I have to rely on amazon who delivers on time, sometimes even before.

Here in the Uk the big stores like Juno and Badlands arrange it so your record is delivered on release day.
Only issue is the fact that since the pandemic hit vinyl editions can arrive months after it hits Spotify, crazy stuff.

In Spain you can get new releases the same idea of artists promoted by the record companies, the ones that are trendy and the very big Spanish names. In the case of Knopfler... He's not trendy anymore but in some big cities you can find the standard version the day of release or the day after , but no the deluxe or the box.
Valencia is the third biggest city in Spain but looks that not big enough for artists like MK and special editions...

I got all MK stuff since OES in local record stores on release day or one or two days earlier. Deluxe Editions included. Seems I got lucky.

In the late 1980s i have bought a lot of Vinyl-LPs, Maxis, Singles and CDs, in local record-stores in my hometown. From those little record-stores not only one had survived to the 21st century, only the big Media-Markt-Store and the Saturn-Store.
I loved those little stores from the Eighties, some had also vintage vinyls not only the new material, so, i always had luck to find interesting records. Yes, that´s history, now.
No i´m still visiting record-stores with vintage-vinyl in Germany, also close to my hometown. In one store i have found a Japan-pressing of Making Movies in like new condition for a few euro. 8)

Yes, a brilliant reissue of the 12-Inch EP. Very good vinylquality and, i think not pressed through GZ-Media. I´m not sure if more DS or MK-special releases will be made for further Record-Store-Days.
Some ideas by my side: a re-release of Comfort and Joy-EP, or other vinyl-12-inch-maxi-versions of Golden Heart, Cannibals, Ruediger, and so on, packed with some really unknown versions or outtakes, a re-release of On The Night 2-LP-Set and and and..
Does someone else also have some ideas for future releases ?? :think

It´s time for a new On the night 2-LP-Set, maybe as half-speed-mastered edition to make it more audiophile to all live-music-enthusiasts.
On the used-record-market, ALL offered used editions are totally overpriced in combination with an average vg+ condition. There are German, UK, Spanish and Brazil-Editions in circulation, but all are overpriced. That is my personal opinion of such a record. It is not so rare as stated by some traders. :think
I have bought my unplayed stock-copy Zimbabwe-Edition of that 2-LP-Set and it´s great for a definitive lower price. 8)

Putting out Encores was a bit of a gamble, because it mainly targeted the fan. Because let's face it, who would buy an expensive EP 12'' reissue, with live songs, outside the fanbase. Encores is still available straight from the company, which means that DS fans are looking for something different. And from what I can tell, not even the usual middle-men/vultures who buy in bulk to sell afterwards with a huge profit dared to stock this one. A pity, because it was a good re-release, but this lack of interest might either put off the management from putting out such things, or lead them to more safe/sure choices, that usually do not interest (particularly) the fans, but target a more general public. Who needs another edition of Making movies? ;-)
By the way, even the double single containing the CG demos, didn't sell out that fast. It was available at the regular (RSD inflated price) for a at least a couple of years after its release. And even at discogs it didn't begin to sell before 2020, and still the price is reasonable.

Hi vgonis. Exactely, that´s what i mean with the artificial overpriced offers on the online-marketplaces for average-condition On The Night 2-LP-Sets. So in that case, it will make sense to release a cool new edition of that album, maybe on 180 gramm or halfspeed-mastered. :think 8)

Shipping costs from the UK are not only expensive but you are also on a serious risk of having to pay a big amount of money on customs fees. In some occasions I paid something very close to the value of the item, like paying for two records but receiving just one. Same happens from the US
I'm avoiding both as far as I can.
