I was today at work and the man from the music store called and told the CD/DVD

The songs are great but need too listen more to them. At the first listen "Home Boy" sounds great.

I think it is called Time In The Sun. It is a pretty funny clip to see. Hope to hear the song one day.

The guy in our local record store ( no hmv where I live ::)) told me it would be at least Tuesday or Wednesday before the digipack (not buying the box set YET anyway) was in.
&&&& when I asked him how much the deluxe box was he said "are you sure you want to know" to which I said yeah!!!!,so he says its over

It's not a complete song. You only hear guitar and some backing vocals. But it makes 16 in total. :)
The normal DVD contains full audio of Get Lucky (photoshoot) and Cleaning My Gun (studio performance). Both songs are full length. Remembrance day (1:22), Backing vocals (2:30). :)

I just purchased Early Bird on its own from the itunes store (australia) - all too easy! Great little mid tempo track, don`t know why they just didn`t throw it on the CD, surely there was room?

First of all, yeahhh we in the Netherlands are able to buy the CD/DVD and luxe boxes in our stores, which is of course wonderful!
Jeroen I also loved to watch the guys singing the backing vocals and wondered if that song was one of the 3 bonus songs! It sounded great and it's great to hear the voice of Danny and Matt too! :P It is a funny part, although very small and I wished I could see more of that!
I also remember Mark playing a very little part of Remembrance day, but also that was too short. Of course it is beautiful to watch the studio and hear Mark explaining about the instruments etc.
As I told I tried to upload a picture here but it is too big, so I can't post. Slavina you posted a picture of Draad from Facebook here, can you, Marie or somebody else post my 2 pics of the CD/DVD I posted at FB here also? ::) ;D

You are quite right, sometimes we would like to hear any MK stuff so hard that we forget about legal / illegal issues, that are not important at all to us as we will buy anything anyway, but the legal part doesn

I have number 256! No just kidding. I think every ticket is number 00109. Someday I'll take Doc's DeLorean (ofc. with Mr. Fusion) to go back to 1996 and see that show at SBE. ;)
I'm still very happy I bought the box, the bonus songs, although they are relatively short, are worth the money imo. I haven't played the vinyl yet (maybe next week or so), neither used the sheet music. :)

Hello there everyone. I got the dvd and cd yesterday too and my personal opinion is that it's a great cd, but possibly could have done with a bit more rock (maybe I still hanker after the dire straits days...) ! Border Reiver is great though (although it was a pity that it didn't set the beat for other tracks), and the other songs tell a great story - I wonder how much MK draws from his younger days... it's quite Golden Heart-ish in style though, with the feel having a lot of the celtic influence (some I thought was reminiscent of Cal).
Make your own mind up though :-)
it's always great feeling to have that new cd in my hands... now come on MK, for the next one (!) let's have some more rock!

Received my CD/DVD pack from amazon yesterday. Just wondering, is it only the packs from amazon that have a sticker on which states "go to www.markknopfler.com for exclusive content only available with this CD", or is this sticker on all packs?
(I haven't found any exclusive content on markknopfler.com yet).

I bought my deluxe box today, I reserved a copy in the spanish fnac site, but it remained saying "order in process" the same day of the sale, and that was really frustrating, as they had in their shops the deluxe box on sale, but we had to wait until the reserved copies were send from the fnac warehouse...
Result, many many many of us cancelled their reserved copies throught the site and bought them directly in the shop.
The candy for reserve the deluxe box was two tickets for the Shepperds Bush Hall showcase, but, what the hell, if the deluxe boxes are in the shop, what

Well, Amazon UK has most of the tickets. For Spain and The Netherlands there are 2 tickets available (for each country).

I had to look the album up before it recognised it.
Same here... Had to fill in the names myself in the first place. However, when I imported the album in itunes (only use it because I have an ipod), it changed the tags again itself. All song names were renamed as "track 01"... :-\ But when I play it, it says "border reiver" and so on. Anyway. :)

I must say i am a little cheesed off - i bought the digi pack (the one with the two discs) and to my surprise - there was a fairly cheap CD package with no booklet with words and no credits etc - which i expect with a MK CD and i like reading through- i then realised the booklet came with the expensive box set - which made me even more annoyed - i think they have really sold out on this one to make as much cash as possible - bad combination of offers IMHO

i ripped the cd's with eac, and then simply used the Freedb Database functionality which needed a split second to find the right info.

Well, I couldn't hold on for 20 months, so went to the local Best Buy & got the album! For me, there's not a skiper on this one, love at first listen. All songs are great-lirics, melody, playing, production. Even the less liked Monteleone is beatiful, just think, 40 strings and nobody steps on each other's toes, you can hear every one! Great caracters, people (and cars, and boats). Many emmotional moments for me personally-some themes strike really close to home. I thought MK & Co. could not make a better album, but they proved me wrong. Dounside-most other music on the radio sounds pretty amature in comparison.

Yeap, when I went looking for the CD (which was released yesterday here) I first went to one of these chains, thinking if anybody had it, it would be them. Then I went to a little record shop who told me that they would get it tomorrow. Finally I found it in Åhlens, a chain that sells perfume clothes, some toys, a bit like Woolworths in the UK.

The date on the package (date of sending) is 2009/09/11
I received it the 15th. The 11th was the releasedate in Holland so maybe they send yours on your releasedate (14th or something)

Today I received my digipack from Canada, only the day after the release here in Sweden. I should really apologize to the nice girl at markknopfler.com who sent some not so nice emails earlier this week. She was good, even if there seem to be a lot of incontinence ;D in that company.

My Digipak arrived yesterday from Canada. Just had a look at the DVD. I find it quite boring to be honest, although the studio tour by MK and Chuck is
interesting. I love to see hang around Matt there at the desk and then trying to leave out of the picture secretly... :)

We got our copy on Tuesday at a local retailer. Can't say anything but-FABULOUS!!!! I love this new album! Not one skipper. It'll take me awhile to learn the titles to every track, but it's coming to me...I'm going to listen and listen, till I get every word and every note imprinted on my brain. I'm gbobsmacked!!! (Thanks, WM!) ;D
The deluxe edition will be available at the end of the month, in stores. That's when we'll purchase ours. Gotta wait for the bank account burn for the gig tix settles down!
Isn't it amazing how long we anxiously awaited this album and now it's here! We have our gigs to look forward to-YAY! They'll be here, before we know it!

After one day I have to report the Digipak is crap, from the material side. You have to pull the booklet OUT of the front cover, so that it swells, sort of.
Looks cheap in my opinion. So much for Special Editions... :-\

It is another version then it is on the cd though, the drums are a bit different.
I tried to put the music from the cd under the video from the dvd but it didn't fit.
It is a playback but from a different take.

Finally my free cd came in this afternoon. Still haven't received my digipak from Amazon. :( Been listening to it to get the feel for it. So far I like it . Lots of nice songs. Especially So far from the Clyde, brought tears to my eyes. :( I always respect Mark's talents in writing and making music. He is such a gift to us all . :)

I just received the album this past Saturday in the mail! Yes, the wait for the CD/DVD version was really that long. It's a long story.
Anyway, aside for the ridiculous distribution issues, this album is fantastic. I'm very surprised- I honestly didn't care for KtGC as I felt that for once in MK's career there were some weak songs on there. Get Lucky is very different, and much better IMO. I can't seem to stop listening to it, especially Border Reiver, Cleaning My Gun, and So Far from the Clyde. It's also probably the best engineered album I've ever heard. There's just so much dynamic range...so different from most albums of today where everything is maxed out to the point of almost clipping.
