Hi Everyone. I'm told that there will be a documentary here in the UK on BBC 4, 21:00 this coming Friday (26 November) on Alan Hull, the former Lindisfarne frontman who died tragically early. Lindisfarne are another group of great North East musicians, and the programme is titled 'Lindisfarne's Geordie Genius- Alan Hull'.
I understand that a number of famous faces are interviewed including Sting, Elvis Costelloe and our very own MK - who many others might call a Geordie Genius too....

That doesn't look recent to me, there's a significant change in Mark's appearance between 2015 and 2019. In that videoclip he looks more like the 2015 MK than the 2019 MK to me. Watch this video and you'll know what i mean

That's just a lovely photo. Quite heartwarming to see old pals together like that.
Observations: John sure likes his waistcoats and Mark was feeling the cold when leaving the house.

Maybe you needed to be a Lindisfarne fan - I was back in the day, & I quite enjoyed listening to the songs again.
I certainly didn't watch it because Mark was appearing, after all, he was only interviewed as another geordie musician.

No, I'm not a Lindisfarne fan at all - the only songs that I know are "Fog on the Tyne", "Run for Home" and "100 miles from Liverpool", so I watched, mainly to hear what MK had to say, but also to find out more about Lindisfarne. It isn't that I don't like folk music, I do and since the early 60s I have been a member of several folk clubs and even these days still attend a few concerts each year. Perhaps Lindisfarne just isn't my cup of tea! :)
PS: I do like the above mentioned songs btw, so maybe I should educate myself by listening to some more Lindisfarne songs, after all it's never too late! ;)

I'm like you, I didn't watch it mainly as I had Rugby to watch! but I did however record it so I may when I've got a spare two minutes watch MK's part in full!!!

The documentary was about Alan Hull and Lindisfarne with contributions from various Geordies and presented by Sam Fender. So, of course, I shouldn't have expected very much from MK. I'm sure that if you are a fan of Lindisfarne and their music you would love it! I did like a lot of the contributions eg from Jimmy Nail, Sting, Peter Gabriel, Elvis Costello and MK. Mark's contribution was about "100 miles from Liverpool", which is a very nice song and as it showed some film of the Liverpool waterfront, it was especially nice for me.
I think I was a bit hard on it in my first post, because MK's contribution was three-quarters of the way through and I was getting impatient and then it was over in a couple of minutes! I apologise! ;)

If it was a documentary about Chet for example I would expect a bigger contribution but not this.

Mark was absent on some major Chet Atkins documentaries as far as I'm concerned, as I remember he doesn't appear here:

I think my favourite song of theirs is "Meet Me On The Corner".

Just listened to "Meet Me On The Corner" and I was surprised to hear that it is a song I know very well, but I know it as "Hey Mr. Dreamseller". So, that's another song I like! :) I think I could be a convert! ;D

Meet me on the corner is a great song.
I’m not a huge fan but Lindisfarne did play in my home town at a free event a few years back. Wish I had gone in hindsight.
On that note, when our local theatre opened, Ken Dodd was one of the first to play it and to this day, I kick myself for not going to see him.

I loved Ken Dodd and not just because I'm a Liverpudlian! I have seen him twice and both times we didn't come out of the theatre until well after midnight - it was just one continuous laugh! ;D Too late now Dusty. :'(
