Hi everyone. Yesterday, on YouTube, I heard this interview with John Illsley and, among his future projects, he talked about a new unreleased material from the DS. What could it be? :think And when, if any, is it to be published?

I sure as hell hope it would be a studio version of "Making Movies", "Whats The Matter Baby" or "Private Dancer"
Although i think it's not likely any of these songs will get released haha

unpublished material, really interesting, I think there is none, at least important things comparable to the classics of the group. what is really missing in my opinion is a full live of the brothers in arms tour. listening to the versions of ride across the river and sultans of swing for example would be a nice gift for everyone

Maybe some live stuff but I really don't think there is that much studio stuff available.
If there was they surely would have used it as B-sides... instead you got the crazy decision to release Walk of Life as a B-side on the first BiA single!

I don't understand why they didn't release the entire concerts that we have on the official albums. Sultans Of Swing The Very Best of Dire Straits and The Ragpicker's Dream Special Edition.

If I were nasty, I'd say that Mark and co just don't care (about old stuff…) but who knows?

FULL On The Night would be by far the most interesting to me
meaning even 'just' versions of the missing songs from other 1991/1992 concerts, they recorded many, they have them
Yep, they do have tons of unreleased material -- recording and touring for more than 40 years is quite a super achievement -- and we all know about the most recent stuff.

Perhaps Guy can share some info about this but i think he will not say anything. He is focussed on looking forward with the new MK album………

The Knopfler Paradox?
Totally uninterested in the past, yet strangely motivated to keep the past locked away. :)

The album and tour were far too long so no thanks to this.
I'd love to get any pre BIA demos etc.

I think what he is basically talking about is an audit that they are undertaking undertaking of all their recorded material. Sorry to be morbid about this but he seems to point to this being done in line with the stage of life band members are at now. So we might not ever see anything from this, but as John says there is a "possibility" so I'd say nothing more at this stage.
In terms of what might be out there I think based on catalogues of other artists like Bob Marley then we are taking about good quality releases of live concerts that already are circulating as well as possible alternate mixes or outtakes of songs we already know. If we get any of that I would be very happy

Naaaaaaah

Me myself, I would absolutely l-o-v-e to hear all the demo's they made before recording the actual records. From almost an historical point of view that'd be mindblowing. Like the 'British' version of the Communique-album.
Fingers crossed ;-)

Maybe there could be various outtake-studio songs, alternate-versions from all DS albums in the vaults of Phonogram-Vertigo-Records or in the basements or attics of Marks homes, ready to see the light. :think
I am also very interested in some very goodsounding live-concert-recordings, especially from BIA Tour 85-86, or from LOG-Tour 82-83. 8)

My guess is classic live concerts from different eras
