Hi Allen,
Thanks for this wonderful upload. Picture number three comes up. :) But one and two do not. :-\

Sorry, I paste the direct url here, as well. Hope it works. :)

It would have been so cool to hear Mark play in this period, seeing his style develop.
Are there any soundbites or recordings ?
-
That's Pick on drums isn't it? And MK's playing the Strat. Could this be the Cafe Racers "comeback" gig that they played after MK had made the first two DS albums?
-
I even googled Erica Echenberg, and found he is a punk photographer, especially for the band Roxy, which DS used to support.
-
Mark definitely looks older on here that he would have with the original Cafe racers. Looks like when he was with DS.
-
I would love to hear something from the 'Cafe Racers' days. ;D
There must be some recording from them locked away in a dark dusty cupboard somewhere?
I bet there's some great early Knopfler fretwork. :) :)
Here's hoping that something will see the light of day in the future.!!!
Cheers BBB

Thank you Allen. Now they are all there. :)
-
In the Myles Palmer book he gets in touch with some of the band members and one of them plays him recordings of some of the gigs, so they're out there...
...somewhere. :)

Agree with you and Dusty, and this one below is widely believe as taken before DS era.

It is Dave Pask. Not only he has recording from the pre Dire Straits era but also from the short reunion that occured in the early 80's.
-
anyone ever "bovvvvered" to ask?
-
great pics !!!
THANKS FOR SHARING
-
These are in fact from the gig afetr the first DS albums, around 1979 I would guess. Mark did not have the red Strat in the Cafe Racers days.
-
>around 1979
late 1979 to be more concrete
-
Yeah, thanks, Ingo. I really needed your answer on this topic, coz you are one of the expert on this.
Wishes
