Title: Transatlantic Sessions 2024
Post by: superval99 on February 07, 2024, 05:57:19 PM
We went to Newcastle yesterday for our annual visit to Transatlantic Sessions.   It was fantastic as usual.  Whilst there we took  picture of The Tyne Bridge with the Millennium Bridge in front - perfect symmetry!

This is the biggest downfall of Mark stopping touring.

I miss you all  :wave.

I am missing everyone too!  It was one of the highlights of the tours and being in Newcastle again brought back some lovely memories.  :wave

I went to Transatlantic Sessions in London this year, was as great as last years ago, althought I enjoyed that time more specially because of Paul Brady and Dirk Powell singing in that tour.

I had the dream that as long as MK is not touring anymore and probably the new record would be announced, and MK is friend with Phil Cunningham, John McCusker and Mike McGoldrick, and also with Jerry Douglas, there was a very tiny chance MK would appear as a guest, specially since last year the special not announced guest was Eric Clapton but, as I said, it was a tiny chance, and it didn't happened.

The Kimbro song about the third man that went to the moon was the best moment of the night, together with Carline Carter singing Ring of Fire with the whole band.

Yes, the audience went crazy with Ring of Fire and the house band played magnificently, especially the final piece - John McCusker could hardly stay in his seat!   ;D

McCusker was literally jumping in his seat the whole concert!

I must confess a particular fondness for Phil and Aly having seen them together twice now.  Their shows not only have top class playing but always provide a great laugh too.

We saw them last year and they were excellent.   They are both very fine musicians and definitely good for a laugh, which we all need in January and February!   Unfortunately they weren't in our area this year or we would have booked to see them again.

I strngly recommed to anyone to attend this show next year.

It's not only that you get to see Phil, Mike and John but also Jerry Douglas makes it worth by himself!
