Hi everyone, I'm quite new around here and have been captivated by Mark Knopfler's storytelling and lyrical depth, both in his time with Dire Straits and as a solo artist. His ability to weave narratives into his music is something that truly stands out to me. Given that I'm just beginning to explore the breadth of his work, I'm curious about his songwriting process. Could anyone share insights or resources on how Mark Knopfler approaches songwriting? Are there interviews or articles where he discusses where he draws his inspiration from or how he goes about crafting his songs? I'm especially interested in the stories behind some of his most iconic tracks.
I received the EP today, and what can I say? Just wow, this is Knopfler at his best! Starts with the jazzy song, and continues with typical MK songs that are some of his best ever. Also, I really like the Cover of this EP, much more interesting than ODR with just the bridge
Ah, covers wise they are both 'artistic' in their own way.
By the way it's not just ONE bridge on the ODR cover is it? There are at least Three bridges clearly to be seen...
*Tyne bridge,
*Metro bridge
*King Edward VII bridge
