"Money for Nothing was formed in 2000 as a tribute to one of the world’s premier rock bands – Dire Straits."

Never heard of them before so far.

Most problably I am not a REAL fan of Dire Straits  :smack

In my case, there is no sense in hear a tribute band.
There is no sense in hear a band copying another.
Well, as a musician, it's fun to copy or mimic Mark's guitar playing.
It's a selfish pleasure. "I can do it, now listen."

But, as a listener, i prefer to hear the real thing.
I prefer to listen a interpretation of MK/DS songs than a copy band.
Well, there is no need to do a completely different interpretation (which is valid), but sing it in a different way, play the harmony a bit different, play different licks etc...

I'm of that opinion! Being lucky enough to have seen/heard MK so many times I never feel compelled to go and see a tribute band. I have seen a couple and it did nothing for me in fact I spent the evening frowning in despair! I will live with my very happy memories of MK 'Live'

On the other hand I'm sure there are some good tribute bands out there but it's just not my cup of tea!

I totally agree with you.  :thumbsup
Why should I listen to a copy when I have the original?
This is all the heaven we've got, right here where we are in our Shangri-La.
