After MK got the OBE, can he name himself, Sir Mark Knopfler? Or am I wrong?

I think you are wrong, as far as I know, to be called Sir you may be Knight of the British Empire (KBE) and Mark Knopfler is Officer of the British Empire (OBE)

Correct, he would need to be knighted, like Paul McCartney and Elton John to call himself "Sir".
