SOS from Mandela gig with different sound mix
« on: March 19, 2018, 01:02:33 PM »
NEver heard this more dry mix from this performance. Anyone know the source of this?

EC guitar etc is much high in the mix and all less reverby

Probably the best mix I've heard but Mark's guitar is still far too low in the mix and the sax too high.

isn't it the same mix as on the "solid orck" sliver pressed bootleg ?
on this bootleg, EC's guitar is proeminent and Mark's guitar is burried in the mix,and all instruments and voices are too much dry, no reverb
I guess it was a monitor mix for stage
I far prefer the TV broadcast mix, more balanced, even if the sax is sometimes barely audible, but at least, instruments have reverb, and Mark's guitar is in front of the mix

I think it has a bit more treble.  I always thought the Solid Rock bootleg sounded dull, but I know what you mean otherwise.

There seem to be much more delay on the guitar on other mixes. I think its more "realistic" and suits SOS much better.
