For Rockpalast 79, I also feel that the versions are fantastic. Lions, News, In the Gallery, Single Handed Sailor, Follow me Home, Where do you think.... are perfectly executed!

they are played in the exact same way as on the album.
nothing particular to me

Single handed sailor in Olso and Amsterdam autumn 79 are real gems, Mark goes into improvisation, while on rockpalast he plays exactly the same thing as on the studio version
matter of taste of couyrse  :)

It's very usual people tends to think as the best versions the ones that are in soundboards bootlegs just because of the sound while usually the best performances are usually in the audience recordings, that are ignored by those people just because of the sound.

Bad for them.

The audience recordings of the last 79 shows are a blast. Angel of mercy and Solid rock linked are just incredible good and not present in things like Rockpalast. Also the rest of songs have developed versions that are far better than the ones in Rockpalast. But as they are not from radio or TV, they will never know.

Poor souls.

Lions has an end solo that is not present on the album. Maybe not as strong as "live at the BBC', but present nonetheless.
News is much more energetic than on the album, especially the part preceding the middle solo. Quite a blast, I like it almost as much as the more developped version in 80/81. And I like it better than LA 79 (the other one for which a video exists).
In the gallery is much faster than the album version.
Where do you think.... has a strong conlusion (unlike the album that has a fading out).
So, save for Single Handed Sailor and Follow me home that sound very much like the album, I respectfully disagree :)
