Lars told me it's better...
Yeah me too, and I also received the Get Lucky track from him but I personally couldn't tell a difference but maybe that's just me! Still I am very pleased with the first recording ,been listening to it all day!

I should say, the latter version is even better.  Grab it without hesitation!

Better not. I am a little bit disapointed to be honest. It sounds all very lame in my very own opinion. After all those enthusiastic first reviews I think it is
not a bit as good as the 2008 tour. He sings very low and everything sounds pretty much as on the album. "Rocks?" Hmmm. I deleted it immediately
and will try to forget it till I am in London. His guitar has a good and clean sound though.  But I will not spoil it to anybody of course, it might be up to the quality of the sound recording which is great for a bootleg.  However, I am not listening too much to audience recordings in general, so I might be judging too hard. Thanks however for the link and to the person that made it happen. I hope for some development when the tour has had its first 20 shows or so.

Sorry to be the stinker.

Sorry to say but i have to agree with you. It reminds me of the ATRR tour when everything was new to all of them and they didn't gel until well into the tour.

I think the sound is great, but I am missing John McCusker's fiddle, especially on What it Is and I am not particularly keen on Tim O'Brien's voice on STP.   I'm up to SOS now, so a long way to go - sounds good!

I said earlier that I was disappointed that Donegan was on the set-list.   Well, this version is great - a much improved arrangement imo!  WOW!

What happened to T.O.B. on STP? Did he drop his song sheet?

I was wondering about Danny in Sultans - very passive, wasn't he? Chad made me go nuts witih all his crash cymbals, but I thought that they were actually missing now. It sounds like he's been told to take a step back.

Chad made me go nuts with his cymbals too, but I mean it in a different way!  :)

Might be the accoustics; remember the recordings were taken from the balcony.

Yes and it didn't even start with his usual enthusiasm of tsk-tsk-tsk-crash :-(

And on What It Is the highland drums didn't even begin to 'roll'.

What's going on I ask myself?

I understand it was a 4 piece in Sultans. Was MK doing all the guitar work himself?

Hi all,
I don't post here very often, even though I've been a member of AMIT for some time now and met Pottel at the Princes' Trust gig, (I'm feeling better now though!  :lol). I need an answer to a question if anyone here can help.
There's an extremely negative review on mk.com for the LA gig, saying the sound was amateurish and the audience started leaving before the end of the show.
Can any of you guys confirm or deny this, I remain unconvinced after reading all the other rave reviews so far.
Regards

Hi Denmark,   I have just read the review on MarkKnopfler.com and the review was referring to last night's concert from Oakland Paramount, not the Eugene gig.    I think we may be getting a review from Oakland on this forum shortly.   :)    Cheers!

Well, I really enjoyed Sultans!    :)    Just shows how different we all are, but none of us are wrong!   ;)

Denmark, I just read Isaac Shabtay's report from Oakland and he said Mark was in very high spirits and was even dancing!   The mind boggles!   :o

I did notice that he only joined that forum today, nice of him to join and then be totally negative.
Unless I hear otherwise, I don't believe people were leaving early. If it turns out to be true, it'll be a first!!
