Simfy gets a 10 for recording quality but 7 for actual satisfaction

Sounds are totally fake (it's called Raw Soundboard), especially in some songs

Most audience recordings are better from this point of view

I hope many more European audience recordings will come out

This is a point of view I can not agree to. Silly to say these recordings were "totally fake". What can be done by any artist to please somebody like you?

I can't handle it, never satisfied if mark gave you 100 dvd's for free, someone would have said that he didn't gave you an box to store them.. That is my point.

I don't understand what you mean by "fake"? I think the soundboards sound great and I'm pretty anal retentive when it comes to this stuff. Of course I wish they offered them in FLAC format, as SimfyLive has that option, but whatever...

No insulting intended from this side, only an opinion. So what is "crappy" then? I am a technically illiterate, so maybe you could explain it, Pensaboy. For me they sound great, nothing to complain about Simfy from my side! ("Discussion" includes different opinions and debating about them.)

Any idea if the 2nd night at the RAH will be on Dime or the tracker in the near future?
I went to the 1st  nights, and imo the 2nd night was the best :)
I'm still holding out for it to be released on the usb sticks, but not sure if only the 1st night is being released.
I know Pottel taped it, cos i was sitting next to him while he was. ;) ;D

Simfy sounds good to me but I'm interested to hear Pensaboy's point of view.

Tell us why you think they sound fake please. :)

Remember, here at AMIT people are free to express their opinion, even when it is wrong, like Pensaboy. ;)

Hmm, the guitar sounds pretty good to me. His amp has a mic in front of it which feeds the house PA and Simfy, of course it's never going to be exactly the same as being there but the extra detail and better quality vocals are what appeal to me about soundboard recordings.

Actually you hear more of the instruments at the Simfy recording than at the frontrow  ;D
You all know sound is better a little more back in the venue.

Your (and everybody else's)  ears are a very unique "sound recording system" -- recording a concert technically contains always many --- DECISIONS. One has to put all the single tracks of the single mics together, that's however the way I explain it to myself. If there is a recording of a show, you CAN'T expect to have the same sonic experience than you had on the live experienced show itself... There is never THE ultimate recording of something... The sound guy however should try to reach a result that is as close as possible to the event itself. That is how I see it.

For me, it sounds great. I agree however that the remixed stuff on the 1988 sampler, including a very bad "Twisting By The Pool" sounds bad. I think MK has done the remixing himself and has learned a lot from those days. The only reason to buy that record was the alternate version of "Where Do You Think You're Going"...

I did already mention this problem in another post.

In a few words, sound is Ok but not the mix. And I already read here the bad effect of it : someone that did not attend a show but only heard it through Simfy recording did get false impression of how it actualy sounded.
