According to Guy this is the best tour ever, the best band ever by far!
So I don't see the point with MK opinion (we all know he's the only one who can take a decision about that).
I'm almost unhopeful to wait for a posthumous official live release.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want to wish MK a bad luck but...if we miss a 2010 DVD live release I don't see any other option.

Well, Guy is always saying that this is the best tour so far - and the best band and the best crew and the best bla bla bla. That's part of his business. I would not take that as a parameter for a live release. Apart from that, I must say I find that thought above quite harsh.

Is the actual recording expensive?  I think it is the distribution that is the problem.  Coupled with the fact I don't see MK having the desire to do it.  He seems to put his energy into the studio stuff.

They record every night anyway. YOu can see the mics pointing out into the audience to pick up the applause.  :-\

Not audio, video.

I don't think "MK-Sitting" will hurt the DVD... [If the DVD will release... 0.01% Chance]
2CD-Live Audio will be very fine for sure...
How about the album title "15 Years of Solo Tour" or "Those 6 Nights in RAH" or "Get Live to be Lucky" ?
All MK-Fans always dream for Live-Release... MK surely knows it.... Hope he will make our dream true this time....

Nice idea, LE !!  ;D

And basic version - only one DVD with the best versions of all songs played during the RAH shows... ;)

This will of course never sell. If you want to charge this kind of price, it must be a least one DVD/BR for every tour DS/MK/NHB has even done since 1977, with every single song ever played live, and extensive bonuses. Something called: "MK - the ultimate anthology".
Who is interested in more than one good RAH show of the same tour ??

David Gilmour released 7 Discs (2+5) just for his last tour in 2006
MK released nothing from GH tour in 1996 till now
It's clear that MK has very strange and questionable opinions about live releases
But this was clear even before the solo career
I mean, We are talking about the same guy who released On The Night
without all the main songs for that tour (TR,TOL,SOS,PONO)
Agree about DG, the live in Gdansk was nice, if was even a bit too much after "Remember that night".
MK did not release nothing: ANIL and RLRR are nice, a but few rare but good audio releases were made (see my post about this). But I agree he did not release much compared to what he could have.
One the other side, MK has been doing 6 tours since 1996; would have been 7 without his motorbike accident... DG did only one tour after PF dismental in 1994; it is frequence of tours vs. quality of documentation of these tours... :)
As for not releasing TR, TOL and SOS (and also TYL), I guess maybe he felt that the Alchemy versions were "purer" and that the management did want the two products to sell well and not be redundant; as for PONO (and IH, and SMU, and PB, and others), yes, this is really too bad.

imagine the same situation of 7 discs (tons of audio, video and extra) for MK 2010 tour

would that be nice? :)
I'll be satisfied with 3: 1BR disc should fit everything possible, and 2 CDs should fit the 24 songs that were played live...

To be fair, TOL was dropped fairly early on.

On the Night is a good example of how we "should be careful what we sish for". It's an official release but it's terrible. The wrong songs and it's had all the life sucked out of it.

I never really cared about official audio recordings in 96 nand 01 because we got some good FM recordings, raw and complete.

The danger with an official release, as OTN shows, is that MK, GF and CI can polish the life out of it. RLRR is fine, but to be honest I've only ever watched the DVD once, but I listen to the Verona bootlage a lot on my ipod. In the same way I haven't watched OTN for 15 years, would much rather watch the Basel 92 show.

Actually TOL was not dropped early. You get this impression because all soundboard recordings from the OES tour (Nimes, Basel, Wobburn Abbey,...) happen to be "TR" kind of concerts; but TOL and TR were sharing a slot and played alternatively, about 50% each. Well, it was more like 60/40 is favour of TOL in 1991, and the reverse in 1992. But TOL was played right to the end in the last concerts in Spain.
OTN is not THAT terrible, IMHO. The picture quality is *very* good for a video transfer of 1992. The sound quality is fine too. The set list lacks SOS, TR, TOL and TWL, but I suspect this is so that the product complements rather than compete with Alchemy. And compared to Basel you get the rarely played -and superb- You and Your Friend. Too bad we did not get PONO and IH as well. But by the time they filmed the concerts of Nimes and Rotterdam PONO was already dropped from the set, and IH was not frequent.
What is more debetable is what you expressed by "they suck the life out of it". It is true that OTN was reprocessed in the studio, especially the vocals. This is a complete mindset change compared to Alchemy. Even today Alchemy promotion reemphasize the fact that it is a pure concert "as it is" with no overdubs of any kind. 9 years later, why did the mindset change so much ? I don't know. I believe in MK is now closed to the spirit of Alchemy than this of OTN. Minus the speed, of course...
By the way, who is CI ? I know Chuck Ainlay, but that would be CA...

Exactly.
OTN is really terrible. Wrong songs, incomplete and parts missing.
I also prefer good and complete FM recordings. With all the mistakes and everything. It should be live really.
The Crowfly recordings e.g. were really good.
So live downloads are O.K. for me. In MP3 and WAV format. MP3 as a cheaper possibility of course.
Anyway: A double live CD or DVD/Blue Ray would be the best...

why does everyoner forget about the option of releasing every show of the tour, as Depeche mode, pearl jam and many others do?
the freaks can get all shows (i would  :lol ) and the rest can get the ones that they went to

also, there is one song that does not suck mucho on OTN and that is you and your friend...
anyways, it is now down to us fans to record as many shows as possible.
i know i am (Bournemouth is in the pocekt, others will follow)
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....
