Too hot maybe.
Preavious show ended almost at midnight, they got into the hotel in Rome at 3 a.m.
I suppose they all were a bit tired, the heatwave hit Italy these very days.

I can understand that the fans are angry. The band could stay somewhere close in a nice hotel. I'm sure there are plenty of nice places around.

I would be upset by such a short list. 

Agree with jbaent, you can shorten your set list, but please let people know in advance.

There's always a solution. If you must play less songs, play something unusual.
Just to apologize and to thank  the audience. Like a compensation.

Well, in the past the Italian shows have been shortened as well... SFA was often the last song. I can understand it's pity to attend the shortest show in the tour. It's the disadvantage of the hotel far far away.
