SOSball
« on: August 18, 2010, 06:42:28 AM »
OK, it's kind of slow on the board, so I thought I'd mention this:
Our coed softball team was playing last night in a park that also had a city celebration of some kind going on at the same time. There were fireworks, the fire department was blowing its sirens and putting out fake fires, and there was a live band.
All of a sudden -- just after I'd hit the ball pretty well, but it was caught for an out -- the band starts playing Sultans of Swing. I couldn't believe it.
It made me happy, even though I'd just made an out.
They did an OK job on it, the guy even made a fair attempt at the "twiddly bits."

Our softball team from last year, when we actually won a league championship. I'm 4th from the left in the back row, the old person.

awesome ! I'm on cloud nine anytime I hear any DS/MK songs played either on radio or at the stores.   :)  To have a band played live is even better.  Did you get to talk to them ?

When we were on holiday this summer in Menorca, one of the local buses had a driver who was a DS fan and he had a DS playlist, which was played constantly on his bus.  Strangely, he was the double of Jimmy Nail!   Of course, I always enjoyed being on his bus!   :)

Sweet, no I didn't talk with them. There was a lot of confusion after our game, and it all went against us, so the rest of the night was a real downer.
Val, it's so great to run across people with good taste in music, isn't it?

well, not that old, if you still play! I would have liked to play football (soccer) until I was 75 but my knees do not agree. I kick heads now instead (well, in between knee injuries)

Pottel,
She actually won the league batting title that night.

Nat,
Thanks. I was by far the oldest person in the league.
Kick heads? Not sure about that one.
