Next my step is to inform Guy how some of MK ''fans" are trying to put fuel and make intrigues using his words and believe me he would NOT be happy at all !!  :disbelief :disbelief :disbelief

I would not do that. The debate is here so no need to put oil on fire on Guy's forum, moreover that he already expressed his wish on that matter.

We should assume that if everybody are here for the love of the Mark Knopfler music, there are strong different point of view of how about the legacy of his music, the Dire Straits era especialy, can be used. But in the end we should pass over them.

Can I just point out that all English people are British, but not all British people are English (including MK). ;)

Slavi, no point threatening to go telling tales to Guy, this is a public forum, anyone in the world can read the comments.

If anyone thinks any post breaks forum rules, please report it to the administrators. :)

I find some posts here very offensive to The Straits aka Alan Clark, Phill Palmer, Chris White and Steve Ferrone which are old MK mates and friends.

If there is something between them - I hope they will sort it out...
Let them sort it out without most of yours tricky efforts.
I read many times Guy's words to be distorted...

IMHO some posts here violate A MARK IN TIME FORUM RULES and GUIDELINES  - copy/paste

Discretion/Respect
Although it is A.M.I.T.'s aim to be more accepting and tolerant of "controversial" topics than other MK forums, we ask that you use discretion when posting a message. This forum is read by many Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits/Notting Hillbillies fans from around the world daily, so what you say will be seen and read by many people. Please keep it civil, and always respect Mark and his band members, family and his associates. All discussions that are deemed by the Administrators/Moderators, to venture too far into Mark or his band members' personal/family matters will be considered inappropriate and promptly removed from the A.M.I.T. forum. The Administrators/Moderators also reserve the right to remove any posts which may in any way, be considered defamatory, and or cannot be substantiated.
hi slavi
i guess you mean what pensaboy wrote:
"Mark and John are disappointed as Guy Fletcher said"
maybe i am wrong, but i also remember reading that in a reply from Guy.
or do you mean something else?
people, it is hot enough as it is outside, no need to keep this thread alive any further the way it is being done.
...
just a tiny amount....lol
get a grip all of you. no need to inform guy of anything, coz i doubt he loses much sleep about anything being said in this forum.
also, i see no breach of AMIT rules as of yet, just the same people from both sides that keep posting their, same, opinion and getting more or less excited.
can we just focus on what this forum is about, "Mark"?

any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

I had the chance to talk with many of the members of the band, and they were very sad because MK was not happy about it. I really thing they respect a lot what the band was and this is their way to show that respect, offering to the fans that are still there the chance to listen to that songs that Mk doesnt wants to play anymore (I think Alan stated something similar in his site).

By the way, this thread must be moved to "Almost Straits" as well.
You might get lucky, now and then

Guy himself mention that they were "dissapointed", wich I think its a very soft word. But yes, some of the members of the straits mentioned that, I didnt dare to ask them if they asked to Mk directly and what he said about it.

Guy strikes me as a complete Internet forum nerd! I mean how many other professional semi-famous musicians bother to update and answer on their own Q&A consistently?
I reckon he reads every word on AMIT and that's why he's so cryptic with his answers most of the time (so he doesn't give the game away). Wasn't there some recent thing where some of you thought he must've read something or other?

Anyway, Hello Guy!!! You probably DONT lose much sleep, but I bet you get a laugh reading our rubbish!?
Get a lifer indeed. :)

Oh, no comment on The Straits. It's getting real old, but I do enjoy reading everyone's opinions! ;D At least Alan Clarke isn't sh!tting on my lawn, ha ha!

Agree that the arguments are mostly being re-hashed now, this thread seems to a carbon copy of the other one.

Maybe we should have a poll of AMIT members, to see who thinks "The Straits" is a good thing and who doesn't?

Also, can somebody link to where GF said that MK himself was "disappointed"? Must have missed that. I know GF himself said he didn't approve of the name, but otherwise wished them good luck.

just search the word 'disappointed' in the Search option of his forum
and his 20th May reply to someone question will show up

Seems that this post has been removed.
If you fill "disappointed" on search blank... no comments on May 20th (first is on may 22nd and it is NOT that post we're looking for).

yes, he removed it, it was there till yesterday night

someone asked about Mark's feelings and the reply was 'He (Mark) and John are disappointed'

At least one of them could have changed his mind.
