Nice to see you here, Hophead.  I appreciate your comments on the rephrasing thread on the official forum.   I need to get back to that.  Fascinating fun stuff.    :)

I'm going to play the new fan card again.

Interested to hear about the soundtrack stuff and how relaxing some of you guys find it. Never heard any of it apart from Local Hero as played on the KTGC tour.

Anyhow, how good is this?

My beautiful wife and I hosted a dinner party Saturday night, and one of the guests, who must have heard that I've become one of you guys, very kindly brought as a gift for me a bunch of DS/MK CDs, including:The Princess Bride; Screenplaying; Local Hero; A Shot at Glory, and Music from the film Cal!! Lucky me! But here's the problem - which one should I listen to first? Answers on a postcard to .......

They are all wonderful in any order, but for a taster, I would choose Screenplaying first!   :)

The soundtracks are some of Mark's best work imho.
Listen to them in order of release.
Local Hero
Cal
The Princess Bride
Last Exit To Brooklyn
Metroland
Wag The Dog
A Shot At Glory

I love them sooooooo much.

Screenplaying is a compilation of Local Hero, Cal, The Princess Bride & Last Exit To Brooklyn.

Enjoy.!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for that guys. He brought me the Brooklyn one too. I like the taster idea to start and we'll go from there. It's gonna take a while and be some fun. BTW, how do you rate the films? I've only seen Local Hero. It was so refreshing to watch. I've been to the little village and seen the call box. Didn't get run over by the biker.

draad....'Local Hero' is a great movie. Haven't seen 'Cal' or 'LETB' but would like to.  'The Princess Bride' is one of those movies that it's impossible to resist if you are going through the electronics department and it's on one of the TVs...I love it. I know parts of it by heart. 'Wag the Dog'...not such a great movie. Great music tho. I've been trying to make up my mind whether to buy 'Metroland' or not. I like Emily Watson a lot but I hear the movie is so so. It contains my choice, hands down, of 'MK work tho....I love, love, LOVE his song 'Metroland'. Altho I think it would rather wake me up than the reverse!! 'Cal' is still my favorite soundtrack however, mostly because I've adapted so much of it to my playing when I play violin on the street.

I would rate the films:

Local Hero
Last Exit to Brooklyn
The Princess Bride
Metroland
A Shot at Glory
Cal
Wag the Dog

To be fair I haven't seen Cal in a long, long time, and it may be better than I remember it. Same with Wag the Dog, although I mainly remember it being a huge let down - so much fantastic talent involved and a good premise, yet it ended up being a huge let down.
