MarkB thank you for the long, from the heart, post. It is true what you say about Bob, I know since I have been listening to his music for over 20 years, but some times I feel like I can't understand his work. One more thing I would like an opinion, is about his songs that have strong references (similarities) with older songs, but still get a Dylan credit only. Other artists haven't been able to get away with it, with lot less (see My Sweet Lord by George Harrison). I mean even if it is a matter of courtesy (to know the original) shouldn't he mention the source?

Jbaent, thank you very much for the link-photo (s). All of them were great, and filled the picture gap in my mind! By the way I have been going through Thin Lizzy's recordings and I think that they have an uneven outing. Maybe it has something to do with the constant changes of the guitarists and the drugs. But for the nice 2-3 albums and 20 songs that I like, I believe that Phil deserves a place in rock history.

Pottel you made me laugh after a hard day working under heavy rain. I found some of them having the same line of humor with Woody Allen.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

And I found from the faithful tracker a 1979-12-20&21 Rainbow theater concert!
By the way Pottel which tracker do you use to find BD, if any?
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Thanks for your kind words.
Yes, I agree with you about some of the writing credits. For example When The Deal Goes Down is very similar melodically to Where The Blue Of The Night Meets The Gold Of The Day and the tune to Beyond The Horizon is almost identical to Red Sails In The Sunset. For Dylan to be credited as the sole writer on the album credits does not seem quite right to me. The songs he has based around blues/folk tunes are different imo because those melodies must have been used/adapted by hundreds of musicians over the years.
I don't know how copyright laws work regarding song credits but as a layman I'd say it is really pushing it for Bob to take sole writing credit for some(just a few of the hundreds he has written) songs.

MarkB, this is the most honest answer on this subject I have ever received from a Dylan fan. No need to say that I agree, it was obvious from my previous mail, I can only wonder why is he doing it.  Surely not for the money, and I guess not out of disrespect for the original composers. He states all the time how he feels about the originals, and the two albums with the covers prove just that.  But then again, it is weird why these songs (I have a few more in mind) went out without anybody noticing from his company, or complaining from other companies. Rolling stones gave K.D.Lang a writing credit for similarities with the song Constant craving (Anybody seen my baby) and even Radiohead did the same with Creep (Hollies  the air that I breath), to name but a couple of recent examples of truly big bands, that didn't feel like pushing their luck. I read books about how these things work (Rockonomics etc) but still I don't get it.

Pottel thank you for the trackers I will check them out.
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

Pottel I also noticed that BD repeats some of his very funny stuff, on different occasions. So he probably stages the whole thing, rehears like he is doing with his songs. Maybe even hire somebody to write them for him. ;)  And before you complain for disrespect, let me tell you that even if I am right I really think it is great of him, since it shows how much he cares for his audience.  ;D
But really some very funny jokes. Thanks for the link.

dylan jokes. the man is funny...
Dylan Jokes:
[...]

A quote from the site: "Saturday night in San Francisco (Oct. 13, 2001) During the band intros Bob introduced David Kemper as "one of the few drummers around better than no drummer at all".

Has Mark stolen that? I recall Mark has said something like that too.
