Guy liked the idea of an official Boothbay Harbor concert release :)

Far too many mistakes in that show for a release.  Also, it's shit.  Just forget about it.

I asked if Mark will record some guitar for another artist this year (aka collab) and the answer is NO.

I wouldn't be surprised if he barely even picked up a guitar these days let alone actually picked one.

Things have been very quiet from Mark recently, I wonder why? No news of anything new, only re-releases, which is fine, but nothing else, I thought he would have been recording new songs by now. I would like to hear a new film soundtrack too, I assume he still gets asked to do them.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

My opinion is that until his health problem will prevent him to sing and write he will record new stuff.

Mark has become a songwriter.

He retired form touring but as lons as creativity will there he will record and will take the his necessary time to do so : rest, write, record.

And curently hes is in the rest or writing step so nothing to be annouced yet.

But he`s totally retired, just feel the tone that surrounds Guy's words, just read betwen the lines...

I'm afraid so too. To be honest, would anyone like to see a record on which he only sings?
Lyric wise, his latest record sounded like an announcement to me, for retirement.

But if Mark has repeatedly said he'll be recording albums, why don't we believe him? We have 25 songs from the last session! That's a lot. It's only been a year.

Personaly this is not a question of "hope" as I lost interest in his solo album for some time now.

I think he stopped touring becoause he could not do otherwise.

Mark is very quiet now, being aged, being not that good looking since his last tour are not positive signals.

But Mark publicly said that he intends to pursue recording and I think that it is what he is set to to do unless too serious health issue would occur.

This is a blank agenda, I mean writing and then recording a new album without time constraint. Just doing it at his tempo. Just the way he do it.

It was only a year since its release, two since it was recorded.

And since then, every time Guy is asked, he says there are no plans.

I don't believe when MK said when the bia anniversary promo there would be another record. Those interviews were made by phone and we haven't seen any recent pictures of him since the last record promo.

Even in some important events, Guy and PCM went to represent MK.

Instead of MK.

Maybe I'm missreading between the lines. Am I?

Time will indeed tell. I think we can be sure that Mark will continue writing - he can’t help himself! And as long as he has songs, I feel reasonably confident that he will want to get into the studio to record them. He has said multiple times that he wants to continue recording, including recently, and I see no reason why we should disbelieve him. We will have to wait and see what happens over the next two or three years. If nothing happens, then we may have to accept the possibility that he has put the brakes on. But while I’m not expecting him to be going at his work with the same vigour as he was some 15 or 20 years ago, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he is working on something in the studio in the next year or so.

He also said during the 2019 tour that he would keep touring. Saying he would continue to write and record songs is just another way to avoid further questions, something that he's very good at. Just as when he said during the ODR promo that he wouldn't tour because he wanted to stay at home. All very noble, but it's obvious why it isn't happening. I truly wish for another record, but I think we've reached the end of his career.

It is very possible that he did intend to continue touring at that time. Had Covid not intervened, the next album would have been released considerably earlier and he might well have gone out on one last tour behind it. We don’t know. And we can’t know for sure that he has retired. Let’s just wait and see, shall we?

Exactly.

Ed said that MK always wants to avoid conflicts, and saying he would keep writing is a way not having to deal with saying the fans that he's totally retired.
