2 months ago Mark confirmed in a Le Parisien interview that there will be a new album, yet there's people here saying that ODR is his final album.

Exactly!  :thumbsup

During a lot of the 2019 shows MK kept saying that he was thinking about retire of live shows, but he liked it so much that he would keep doing it untill fall on the stage...

The way he said that in the interviews, says to me he¡s telling what people wants to listen to. Guy keeps saying there are no plans and that he doesn't know a thing about doing another record.

Guy, is it true? No live show in 2001 to celebrate the anniversary of the release of Sailing to Philadelphia? If so, it makes no sense.

Guy:

I know what you mean. Many things make no sense if we are not fully aware of the facts.

I wonder what the facts are  :think

Maybe the fact is there are no tapes of sufficient quality.  We know of only radio shows and those recorded for the DVD.  The Madrid show can be discarded thanks to the loud audience and the others will be scrapped, if we know the Knopfler archive by now.

If Madrid was recorded multitrack it seems inconceivable that the audience was so loud that it bled into all the onstage mics, but I've never heard the tapes (WHERE ARE THEY?!) so what do I know.

They recorded in audio also Bilbao, Newcastle and Glasgow, in the first place as audio backups to be used in the Madrid dvd, so they should have (where are the tapes?) that tapes and should be able to do a mix and release them.

Also they recorded 29 aongs for STP (where are the tapes?) but as they were not used at the time, probably they still think they are not worth.

Well that's what I'd have thought too, and that they were extremely negligent at the time in the placement and level of the mics.

Spanish people can be so loud!

However, they recorded shows in Newcastle and Glasgow to be used as backups where neccesary, seems Geordies and Glasgewians are more calm, LOL

And he did exactly that, he played live until he really couldn't anymore, we could see that in 2019. He told us the truth

Guy doesn't know anything probably because MK is still writing songs/putting ideas together. His latest album was released a little over a year ago, so he's well within the usual 3/4 year cicle.

I do want another album, so maybe I'm biased, but I just don't see where people get the idea that he's fully retired. Many people here said DTRW was his final album and that Matchstick Man was the perfect goodbye, yet he worked a lot during 2022 - 2024.

Mark is trying to get his guitar skills on shape.
He promised another record.

So... Let´s hope for blockbuster album and a final series of concerts at RAR. Just because he can.
