Thanks for these guys - a lot of work there.  Stats don't prove anything though - 92% of people know that! ;D

Amazon top sellers list changes instanteously.
For example, in France, today at 10 am, MK was at #5, and now at noon, he's #9 !
They got a name for people like you, yeh they do

Is the Amazon list based on downloads or record sales or both?

interesting, Knopfler is #1 at Amazon.de but only 28 in the US.

#28 without any promotion by record company in the US is the exellent result.

I thought that, too. And by figures it means probably a lot more sold records than at Top 5 places in Europe...

In Sweden it's uncool among critics to applaude MK, has been like this since the 90's at least. Gonna post a collection of reviews later on.

Every single review is either luke warm or frown nosed about Privateering  >:(

Thanks! I prefer a review from any AMITer or Ingo f.e. anytime over any paid, bored journalist who has a table full of 100 CDs to choose from which one he will tear up to aggrandise himself...

I thought about it yesterday when I saw the Rolling Stone magazine at a store. I didn't even take a look inside, because I wasn't interested at all...

All the people around here at AMIT know so much more about Mark, his music, his last albums and his very first ones.. So what should a journalist tell me if he liked it or not? Public perception is something that can caress a fan's soul, but I finally understand why Mark never gave and never gives a damn about it.

Ingo's review is very detailed, knowledgable and well-informed, I learned something new about some stuff. So thank you, Ingo!!  :D

I think Ingo is wrong about "no 3/4 folk waltzes on this album". Kingdom of Gold falls into that category.

And can anyone explain what he means by "time changes", maybe? I have a vague idea, but I haven't studied music theory, so I'm really not sure. Sounds interesting, though, because he says it's typical for MK.

No, as I said in a comment on Ingo's site, celtic tunes (like kingdom of gold, let it all go, lily of the west,etc...) are NOT in 3/4, there most of the time are in 6/8.
It means there are 4 times in a bar, but each time is divided in 3, not in 2 or 4, like in 2/4 or 4/4.
That's the same difference between rock'n'roll which is "straight time " ("binaire" in french) and blues or jazz which is "shuffle" ("ternaire" in french)

Secondary waltz is in 3/4, because it's a waltz  ;D
but each time in a bar is divided in 2, not in 3

As for time changes, Ingo means different times in a bar.
Typical Marks music is based on bars with different times :

"Normally" a song in 4/4 would have all his bars with 4 times. But Mark like to include bars with 2 times in it, it brokes the rhythm.

Sorry for my poor english, hope it's clear  ;D
