Nigel will play for sure in songs we already know.

I asked Guy if they had any song waiting for the UK dates to be played, without any real answer from Guy, and some xxxxxx told me that "If I know the DS catalogue I

Although it is not usual for Mark to invite the opening artist to duet with him on his set this time is different situation as Ruth Moody sings on the album so I would bet it will happen at least in London.

It's quite funny really;  for years we've wanted change and now we're not happy with it!  It's of course down to the songs he's changing and when we thought about change we assumed it would be the "little" songs for rarities and not the mainstays he's played for ever.  This is just far too radical and when the ultimate is dropped then enough is enough.  I think it's great to see the passion it's stirred up on the forum though - it shows just how much Mark's music means to us all.

Absolutely true about everything you said !!  SOS has to stay in the set.  Not for us getalifers, but for the majority of the fans that might have come to see MK for the first time.  Frankly, even for myself, I loveeeee to hear it at every show.  It's a signature song.  Now, I wonder if PC has anything to say about MK's decision to drop SOS at certain cities.  Rememeber, he probably will look at it more from the business prospectives, how the fans will react, future ticket sales etc etc.. ??? Yes, MK can play whatever he wants to play.  I will always respect that side of the argument, but what about the business side of it?  Perhaps, MK doesn't care, since he's not doing it for solely monetary gains, or is he?  I thought about this yesterday. This could fire up a passionate discussions for our beloved MK ??? :)

Some night, some performance of SOS have not been up to the standard it deserve, I have witnessed erratic soloing on it.

But Turino 2013 sounded very good to my ears. False impression or did I get the good spot?
The following night in Milano, Mark encountered something that sounded like a technical problem with one string that prevented him to perform it properly.

Here's me feeling a bit let down because "Mr Bob" has kept to a pretty standard set list for his recent tour and here are some of you, having commented adversely on Mark's repetitious set lists in the past, getting concerned because he fails to play some old "war horse" every night.  These are Mark Knopfler shows, not Dire Straits shows for goodness sake! Get with the programme! Stop living in the past. He's a performing artist. He can't rest on his laurels. He has to change and develop or his artistry will wither - and you don't want that.

"Mr Bob" wrote a 2-verse version of "Blowing In The Wind" in April 1962, added a third verse a little later and recorded the song we know in July 1962. He didn't always perform it in the following period but, with its release on album in May 1963 and with Peter Paul and Mary have a huge hit with it in the summer of 1963, it became, as it were, his signature song and he performed it for a few months. Come 1964, however, it disappeared from his set list and, as far as we know, it wasn't performed at all during the 1964, 1965 or 1966 when he was at the height of his public popularity. Dylan moved on and, whatever the expectations of his audience, he was true to his art. He didn't pander to his audience. You had to keep up with him. That's the way it was and that's the way it should be.

Getting back to Mark, I hope he doesn't repeat the same jokes and between-song banter night after night.

Some days without new songs, "Prairie wedding" was the last.
If we believe that Italian Amiter who listened to the soundchecks, they have still to play "True love will never fade"
I hope they still have some songs to play, waiting for Nigel in the UK  ;D

Guy said 30+
Now we know the number.

I wonder if more numbers make the list during soundchecks...

I bet for Radio City, with Nigel on sax, as one of the songs waiting for the UK shows when Nigel arrives.

Maybe the songs played with Nigel in the RR gigs: MFN (would be great), WOL (hope not !), STP.
And maybe Your Latest Trick, great sax demo.
And if I dream.... Submariner ! :)

I love your list ! Both YTC and KOG, all the DS tunes but the disposable SFA, Postcards, SAN,... I would be delighted to get it.
I would add Piper, love it, and Back to Tupelo, I think it was played live better than on the album, I'm surprise that I like to listen to it often now !
To make room for these two, I would remove Gator Blood (not my fave) and Corned Beed City, but that's not going to happen, it is quite sitcky...

They have played 30 different songs now and apparently rehearsed 36.
It is probably safe to assume  RT and TLWNF make it 32/36(after having been soundchecked). So 4 tunes left(if I am correct) :hmm

I'm hoping for : OES, Silvertown and BR make up 3 of the 4 left.

I seriously doubt it though :-\

By the way SFA must be the most underwhelming song MK has performed on his tours for years.....why he persists playing it regular is beyond me  :hmm

I must take my concerns to Guy, I'm sure I'll get a measured, articulate and informative answer(especially if I mention eggs and Range Rovers in the message) :-X...He's good that way.
