Who would play MK in a film of Dire Straits

How about Ewan McGregor for the Dire Straits era MK and Anthony Hopkins as the present day MK?

Now if we were to consider the most unwanted scenario - and that is for Hollywood to make the film then it would be much easier to determine who would play the two characters.

MaCauley Culken for young MK and Will Smith for old MK - easy! 

And of course I can imagine the finale - MK on stage at the age of 75 playing his farewell concert and standing on his amps smashing his guitars against the drums and keyboards and offering the debris to the 'fans'. The light show going ballistic, a fire breaks out, the emergency services are called and Kurt Russel appears with Tommy Lee Jones to save the day.

Let's face facts, we all know that there's only one man who can play MK... the legend that is Keith Harris.

Okay, call this way out of left field, but I have always thought Geoffrey Rush looks like he could be in the Knopfler family. I imagined him as playing MK's dad, although I've never seen a pic of Mr Knopfler. Plus, with Geoffrey Rush we'd have quality acting.

Yup, now that you mention it, Geoffrey Rush does bear a resemblance to MK.

I am a baldie with a big nose, but the comparisons end there unfortunately.
