Musical masturbation for all concerned.  Arrogance and ego's on show.  No regard for the song itself - the song is king.

I resorted to watching with sound only and really enjoyed the performance!   Tommy Emmanuel's ego was just too much for me to watch for very long - he's just too much of an exhibitionist!   The song should be king, as MK has always said!     ;)

Didn't they just enjoy playing it, as a MK fan, others seems to be a bit too exhibitionism soon.

Yes, obviously they enjoyed playing it and it is, of course a great tribute to MK's song.  It's just all that excruciating gyrating and grimacing....... !   :disbelief     As I said, I enjoyed listening - only!   :)

Not my idea of fun, I could only tolerate 3 minutes of watching that, TE is a great player, he made an album with Chet Atkins, but it was all a bit indulgent, and the arrangement didn't work for me.
Knopfler, Oldfield and Gilmour is all the guitar I need.

I love Javier Gonzalez famous version, just him, bass and percussion, and that one is really phantastic. But this one somehow puts the idea into some useless level... don't like it that much, reasons the same as said by others mostly.

Was listening to this in the background as I worked.  ...So I had to go back to see what I missed...  Oh boy -- egoism on full display!

..... and then compare it with MK's very subtle and elegant performances!     Let's hope it happens again, before too long!   :)   Maybe in Carcassonne, Lis!    :wave

Saw this video when it was just uploaded, had the desire to send it to Guy, but... yes, agreed with EGO arguments.

But Tommy's solo still worth watching. Love to see how he can do anything on the guitar what he want to.

But I like the harmonizing on the twiddy bits. Sounds nice imo
