         I know Mark was born in Glasgow,but does anyone know which area ?Cheers

BEARSDEN - East Dunbartonshire.
Mark attended Bearsden Primary School for two years before his family moved to England. source Wiki..

The Knopfler clan stayed in this street in Glasgow.



It was Wheatfield Rd; I think it was no35 and I'm pretty sure he was born in the Western Infirmary on Great Western Rd.

Coincidently, I passed through (or more precisely underneath) there last night to go to the football.  We were playing Newcastle United in a friendly!
