I recall a video of a presentation of something at British Grove, and Chuck was there, at the same time that Mk was working on his songs.

yes the one on bonus disc from the get lucky box set edition

Not so sure, JF. I remember another, not-MK-related video on youtube some months ago where Chuck was at some presentation or something. We all thought hey, Chuck is there, it was later than October 2013, work on the new album had already begun then. Cannot find it.

EDIT: Found it!

Already hated that Wow WOW WWOOWWW line at the first time I heard it..  ;D

Talking about British Grove, there are some new videos (two months old) from Christina Ricci playing live at BG on the piano, obviously some tracks from her latest album.

which does not mean he will not tour.
he is a well booked session man. may be too busy now.
any Knopfler, Floyd or Dylan will do....

That i can understand but i wonder what is the reason why he will not post my question....
I get the impression there is something more going on......
A simple answer would have done it....

Cannibals, i think Guy just doesn't know. On his website he also mentioned that there are no plans for a tour at the moment. Besides that Richard has probably his own projects going right now and might have declined a request by Mark to take part in the recording of a new MK album. Anyway, does it really matter? Mark is always able to surround himself with top musicians. For me it is mainly about his songwriting, vocals, guitarstyle and sound. With Mark that will always be the same.

Personally, i actually like a change in the line up from time to time. New blood means often new/fresh ideas and sound. Have a big dream (wish) though. A MK slide guitar album, with guests like Sonny Landreth, Jerry Douglas, Derek Trucks, Bela Fleck, Ry Cooder, Chris Rea, Jeff Beck, Paul Franklin (box)... even though that will never happen.. the dream is still beautiful. :-)

By the way guys and gals ever heard of Nelly Niel (aka Andrew Niel):

I doubt that Bruce Molskey would replace Richard on tour.  It seems like Bruce's role is more like Tim O'Brien, a multi-instrumentalist who specializes in American folk music and plays strictly acoustic guitar, along with the other stringed things.  MK may be playing all electric guitars on the new album, especially if they are recording in separate tracks, rather than live, in which case Richard's participation is not necessary. But Richard, or someone with his playing ability, would be necessary when performing live.  Richard plays guitar in a way that is very complimentary to Mark's playing, in terms of tone and style.  I can't imagine that he would be replaced by an accoustic specialist.

I guess you are right. What I find interesting, maybe strange and quite alarming is a second fiddle... only reason for this is Mike playing flute and John cittern... I mean there is a violin in the band with John McCusker...
I have a certain "Speedway Of Nazareth" expectation when I read about Molsky's roots in Americana..

Regarding the release date - does anyone think that the delayed release of Privateering in the US will affect the release date of this new project?  The new label just released an MK double album in Sept '13 - will they want to wait more than a year to release a new title?

For what it's worth, I am quite certain that MK will never discuss in public any dispute with a record company.  But a couple of the songs on Privateeing seem to give some insight into his thoughts.  The lyrics to "Don't forget your hat" sound a lot like the expression from the American south "Don't let the door hit you on the way out" which is said when you are glad to be rid of someone you don't like.  The rest of the lyrics support that thought.  That sentiment could apply to a record company executive with whom you are having a dispute. Also the song Privateering, especially given that it is the title song, celebrates the idea of being your own boss or the captain of your little ship, as Mark has said before.

Anyway, sorry to get off topic.  But as much as I hope this new album is released in the fall, I wonder if the delayed US release of the last album could have an effect on this album's release, regardless of whether it is technically complete or not, simply for marketing reasons.  I guess it would depend on how big his US market is vs the rest of the world.

Does anyone remember the name of the "multi-instrumentalist" that was to tour with MK during the ill-fated Ragpicker's Dream tour?  He had a bio on MKNews for a while.  Kind of a flaky-looking character,IMO.  Can't remember his name though.
