New Album Like...?
« on: January 17, 2014, 03:41:12 PM »
When we eventually get our hands on this new album which of his other solo albums would you like it to be like?

For me it has to be STP. Without doubt his greatest solo album and the last album he had with reeaaallyy good solid rock guitar sounds. He is ageing so for one more time i'd like to see him focus more on guitar and less on vocals. I pray for another song like Speedway, and also Junkie Doll.

Celtic based, slow tempo.  Dull but worthy.

I long for what you want too BloodGator but I'm afraid it is the stuff of dreams.

Wouldnt say no to one of his songs that starts slowly and builds to a long rocking ending like TR, speedway or HFB live.

Peter Green, after his LSD meltdown produced some fine guitar driven albums. And I'm not even talking about his 90ies reincarnation, with the wonderful Nigel Watson. But I would love to listen to a "Then play on" (his last album with Fleetwood Mac) or a "In the skies". Of course he had other guitarists as well (Danny and Skip and Snowy White) , and maybe if Richard Bennett was allowed to step up, or if MK brought some other talented guitarist to tease him and bring the best out...
Come on, it is not funny anymore.

I always thought that if MK "refresh" his band there would be a change, but if you consider the addittion of the Macs as a refreshment, the change maybe its not the one we would had liked  ;D

Ive been listening to recordings from the GH and STP tour for the last couple of months. I honestly had forgotten how much MK used to rock. Its quite a stark difference from today. Im not saying its bad but just very different.

I actually like a lot the celtic and folky flavour that the Macs add to MK

No, I won't have him make an album that sounds like another one from him. I want him to make an album that sounds like no MK album before.

And somehow, I love them all, especially Get Lucky.

Love Over Gold.  I gave the album a listen lately, which I don't do very often being a bootleg man, and the studio versions are just awesome.  They sound like live versions on that album.  Love it!

The title track was never played nearly that well on tour.

I like Get Lucky as well, but for me privateering was a very special album, which i listen to on and on. for the rest i agree totally with jbaent, but i like surprises too. i'm very curious which musical influences are focused now. (after the blues focus in p)

It is always an exciting time when a new MK album is being recorded, wondering if it will be bluesy, folky, country, rocky?    I would like it to be completely different this time - maybe jazzy - that would be a change!   ;)

I love all of MKs albums - some more than others.  Probably my favourites are Ragpickers, Get Lucky and Privateering - I like Shangri-la a lot too.
