Nope.  Wow - so much energy in that performance.  Compare that to the lethargy these days.  Thanks for posting that.

yes. of course the music doesn't match the video. The footage (with no audio) is sourced from a Super 8mm.

It appeared firstly on Dime and then on the KnopflerTK tracker:

Of course not and I wouldn't expect them to.  Without assistance, that is!  ;)

I still see many older performers give much more energy than Mark on stage though.

Yes, I agree, but it's MK that gives me the most pleasure, even if he's slower than before.   ;)

EDIT:  I think maybe I could have phrased that a bit better!    ;D    :-[     :think

the video seems to be from Rainbow Theatre, London 20th and 21st December 1979 (seen in the Arena documentary)
at least Mark has the same clothes, but maybe he had same clothes at different gigs around late 79...in the same way he had same clothes in different gigs around late 78- early 79.....

I noticed that too but assumed they were just his "stage clothes" as Guy puts it, just as he wears the same shirts these days at lots of concerts on the same tour.

Also, quite often with older amateur equipment the video and audio would be recorded separately which explains the lack of synchronisation between them.

Edit:  seems it was a Super 8 format and in such a format the sound was recorded 18 frames in advance of the picture.

Well nice to see a swedish member here on this forum!! Lived in Sweden 6 years from 1983 to 1989, still speak swedish which was not so difficult to learn!! Dire Straits was indeed very popular there much more than in France!! I heard most of the tracks I love from them on the swedish radio!!! Unfortunately I never got the chance to attend any gigs there either!!
But it's written in the starlight and every line on your palm, we're fools to make war on our brothers in arms.
