100% it's a The Straits re-union (as if they have what to re-unite anyway), and this situation is also 100% proves why people like me hate The Straits. You can play great Mark's songbook, nothing wrong about that, but you can't take name that gives misdirection to hundreds of people all around the world, not to mention media and even official websites.

Do you really think this is about The Straits? Why would such an unknown band hold a press conference if they're going to perform again? Bands and solo artists almost never hold a press conference. Only big artists do so to announce a major event coming up. So yes, I assume this must indeed be about a Dire Straits reunion in some way, be it a charity concert or even a new album or both.

Guaranteed that this Is not Dire Straits, but the "straits (lame)" .................. Phil Palmer trying to trick people into thinking that it's a real Dire Straits reunion, when of course it is not. Phil should be ashamed of himself. ............................

And i think a announced press conference would perfectly fit to THE STRAITS, but it wouldn't fit to Mark (IF he announces than always ONE day before the event  ) I don't think that Phil Palmer is to blame. Sounds like a misunderstanding and we can't be sure if he did it on purpose. The whole "backstage" story is a bit poor, and so

I don't post here very often but in this case i am forced to.

You accuse Phil Palmer of being "a ........................." and call Phil Palmer a "piece of .......". What's wrong with you? 

Some people in this forum seem to have a fundamental problem with Phil Palmer because he is not Mark's best friend - but he appears to be a fairly nice guy and has worked with many musicians during his long career (more than Mark Knopfler has done) and there seem to be more people in the business having problems with MK than with Phil (not only frustrated DS ex-members).

Apart from this he is a very fine guitar player who deserves a bit more respect.

If you don't like him for whatever reason - fine. But don't insult him for things he might have said (or not). Even if he talked about a DS reunion, even if he did it on purpose to gain attention or whatever  - there is no reason to use such words!
