That`s the truth...

Even we consider Alan as a member because he was in the band from the 80's and helped a lot to the musical development of the band, changing into a rock and roll stadiums band, he was hired from the very beguining. Same goes with Guy Fletcher, he was hired from the start, and he´s still hired althought he is always with MK in everything he does.

DS started as a band of four people, when David and Pick left, only two members remained, and the rest were always hired musicians, despite what the OES booklet says.

Dire Straits is indeed 4 original members as said by Jbaent. Only John and Mark played together till the end of DS.
All songs (music and lyric) written by MK. So what is DS? DS=MK not more not less in my opinion.

And Chris White isn't an original member indeed. Phil Palmer said to me what he was in DS: "A wonderful band and the genius of MK in which it was my privilege to be involved with for a short period." That's true, that's realistic. All other claims are pathetic.

At least, when Alan was involved in The Straits, his site said that Chris was "formerly DS sax player", nothing about an original member  ;D

And that's true, there's no problem with them spreading out they worked with MK. They did, they are proud of it, and they have to make a living too. So advertising you played with MK and ... and ... is totally ok.

Think it's more the fact that it say's he was an original member - 'member' being the word I reckon!!

I seriously don't know why CW cannot move on perhaps with his own material or perhaps he hasn't got any??!!

And I think that now this matter is going out of proportion!!! What I understand is that AC, CW and co have nothing else than the Dire Straits Experiment to work with and that's what is their big problem!!! I haven't seen their live shows before, only what was posted on YouTube. Some songs were ok but it's not the same feeling than with MK and it never will be specially when their new Frontman, sorry I can never remember his name, sang TOL!! The same goes for JI,original member, when he's singing R&J or Private Investigations!!! Even if they say that the DS Audience wants to hear the songs MK doesn't wish anymore to perform, nothing can be compared with what they did 22 years ago and the past is the past. Time to move on!!! And I believe that's what MK wants mainly to say in TOTT!!! :wave
But it's written in the starlight and every line on your palm, we're fools to make war on our brothers in arms.

He has 2 solo albums and some new material. I don't know why really he do not record it, but I can guess...I'm not sure you can sell a sax album nowadays in the situation the musical industry is at the moment. And he is a session musician, playing and touring for others. There are not many saxophon players in the world touring with a sax music- in fact I can recall David Sanborn only. ( Kenny G, not a serious thing). So not so much options for CW...

Thanks Stanko,
Yes this song is one which evokes all sorts of images and emotions. Mark hasn't held back in his thoughts about these guys using his pet name for the band, as their band name, IMHO.
Yes the airport terminal scenes are all included to highlight my interpretations of what the lyrics are saying. I had intended to have all verses in monochrome, but decided to offer an olive branch to the guys in verse 3.
