The playback thing had primaly to do with the show wasn't recorded at the main studio in Stockholm (it's a co-production beetween Swedish and Norwegian television, and it's of course easier to get international guests to London than Stockholm). That means lack of technics, but also studio crew because they didn't wanna take part in that particular show because of the politician that guested that night.

Interesting! So that was that the reason? Where did you find out?

Read it on Twitter a while ago. The post was about that they were a bit short on studio crew. The music on "Skavlan" has always been live otherwise.
