Geez, you're all talking like he's ancient and it's amazing he can still walk or something!  He's only 65 and that's not old these days.  He's had a good life, living in luxury in good health and not having to work hard or under any stress so I don't really see why it's so amazing he can still play a guitar at 65 years of age - he damn well should!  And be able to do it bloddy well too!  There are many other musicians his age and older still producing music too.

I guess you're right now you have put it in context dmg....

He just so old compared to us, eh?  ;)

It is right to say that he appears to be much more relaxed in front of great audiences when he does HIS thing. But sitting in the back of a TV studio in a foreign country, about an hour or so and wait to be announced with the usual Dire Straits Superstar related stuff, I can imagine that this is not what he exactly loves doing the most. His nervous behaviour has never really changed all those years now, it is somewhat likeable. I heard a him talking very fluid and intelligent stuff, and he even smiled at her, so I guess it was not a too bad night for him. I guess he is doing this TV stuff because it is part of the deal with the distribution and record company?

I know 65 isn't old, but everyone is different.  Some people are old at 40!   Some are young at 80!   ;)    I think MK is doing very well and although he says he has an easy life, for example he was saying somewhere recently that he gets off lightly as opposed to Kitty, who works and looks after all aspects of family life.

I wouldn't think for one minute that his life is stress-free, though - just think of all the things that are involved with the music industry - money being a big factor.  It must cost a fortune to keep the studio going, not to mention everything involved with touring, Hiring huge venues, down to smaller things like paying everyone in catering et al.   I know he has PC, but ultimately the money comes from MK!

Mark just looked tired, and maybe a bit under the weather to me.
Voice sounded a little shaky compared to Norwegian promo as well, to me anyway.

Like others have mentioned, he looks less and less comfortable with these type of shows, but they have to be done I suppose.

I'm sure all will be fine once the tour gets underway.

We'll see.

I have tix for 6 shows so I hope so. But others signs during his latest tours makes me quite insecure about the subject.

just for your info about Mark and (TV) Shows:

i met Mark 3 times in my life

1. on every street tour, i had backstage passes for Europe Tour
the closest was in Olympia Stadion München, Open Air 92
at this time he was a Rockstar, security all around - he was a Star - i think he was more nervous to this time than today, as he smoked before the gig and a lot (!)  of people around him ..

2.
the sailing to philadelphia album:
to this time i was director and author of "harald schmidt show" in germany
it was one of my wishes that he perfoms at this show, and it happened someday
i have the complete rehearsal (around 1,5h) of "what it is" on a digi beta tape
he wanted to get the perfect sound in the studio, and it took its time
in this show there is a great moment
in the rehearsel of the whole show something great happened:
Mark entered the stage.
there was a Band called "Helmut Zerlett band" - it was our Showband.
In this Band Mel Collins was playing Sax since years
Mark saw him and shout: "OMG - this is Mel Collins!" The had a lot of to talk.

It was the one and only act in the history of this Show (!!) where the Show had a break, the audience had to leave the studio that Mark were able to do another soundtest (!!) - addicted to be perfect i would say.

ironic thing: there was a buzzing of an amplifier all over the song, you hear it quite from the beginning. still i have all sounds and tracks of this live gig on tape.

i think i was 3 years everyday in the room of the editor in chief of this Show, Manuel Andrack, and said to him: please invite MK to the Show, he is at Letterman with every new album, he must be in Germany´s Late Night too.

So believe it or not, this live act is born by me for a big part:

the live act is here:

3.
i met him at "Bambi" Award in Hamburg
he was playing there "Boom like that"
i did a documentary of this Show.
he played half playback.
it was the time right after the accident. i was able to talk with him on stage.
i said to him: don´t break your bones again.
he said to me: promised. british humor.

everytime i met him, he was quite shy, but never nervous. not at all.
sometimes this artists are tired, yes, everyone who travels a lot knows: every luxury can´t avoid that you are tired when you travel.

in the case of yesterday:
don´t interpretate too much:
the light of this show was ... not very nice for an artist.
i say this as a professional filmmaker and photograph.
there are 2 lights from the ground - normally you use those light to give a dramatic evil character in theatre or film.
and studio light is very hard always.
the mix of the song is not state of art, but there is very less time for all.

and yes, with 65 you are not 20.
but i had the solid impression that he enjoyed the song, especially the 2nd half.

he is not nervous. not really. believe me.  but he wants to speak in / with his songs, not so much in interviews.

i will see Mark on 31May in Salem. Looking forward. Indeed.

that´s all from me. promised.
