BBB, MK will always be my No.1 too, for the simple reason that he can play such a variety of music and styles so impeccably, which is why I can never, ever get tired of him.   He excites me more than anyone else could ever do!  :)  He does all this without losing his own very recognisable and inimitable style!  :P

I am a fan of DG and EC too, but even these two do not produce this amount of variety.  DG's style is amazing and I enjoy listening to him, but it does sound very samey at times, just as I remarked before that "Marooned" from the "Division Bell" could easily have come from "On an Island".   ;)

OK, I guess it will take a little while for things to settle in and we are still establishing the rules at this point... BUT!

Pottel, you posted TWO links! The way I saw it, one person would recommend ONE artist (every two days). In other words, you should have suggested Leo Kottke or DG, but not both. :)

Is that OK? In terms of the number of links, I think it's OK to follow up your initial link with "supporting evidence", ie further info on the artist you are recommending/other songs by the same artist. I guess what i am trying to say is that I think we should only be discussong one artist at any particular time. OK?  :)

Marteen,r u cheetin man ::) ::)

Seriously though,
Leo Kottke - I've never heard of him before but he can seriously play - I can see why MK & GF hold him in such high regard.

DG -to me he's Pink Floyd & I was never a real big fan I'm afraid.Yeah I know I'm a sad git but I was never really into PF :o :o

Its MK 8) for me I'm afraid,I can listen to him all day, every day & not get sick of it ;D - my kids are getting brain washed at this stage. There is a bit of "can we put the radio on for a change Dad" coming out at the moment though??????

Ok,I'm going to jump the gun & go next?

Dusty is going to be happy with this one,but I think that Big Country were one of the most under rated bands to ever come out of Scotland. They were BIG in our school days & I was lucky enough to see them live once - should have asked Stuart Adamson for his autograph but su're thats life. The afore mentioned Stuart Adamson is no longer with us which is a pity as he is a big loss to everyone including the music industry.
For anyone thats not familiar with them, they had big hits in the 80's/90's like, In a Big Country,Where The Rose Is Sown,Wonderland,Chance,Harvest Home,Lost Patrol,Just a Shadow,East Of Eden,Steeltown, look away,King Of Emotion,Ships & many more that you can freely find on youtube.
The one that I have picked is a song called John Waynes dream, which is not one of their most prominent,it was recorded on the Final Fling tour in Barrowlands Ballroom in Glasgow May 2000.

Take a look at Bruce Watson the other lead guitarist :o :o,is he into his music or what????

Ah shoot, I couldnt help myself,

& the good old top of the pops :P

What a band,what an era,schooldays,football,birds :P :P
If it aint broke dont fix it!

I sold Stuart Adamson a pair of green adidas trainers in my shop about 16 years ago.
He was playing a gig in Norwich that day i seem to recall. :)

Ha ha ha!

This is nothing to do with Big Country but is very appropriate to that picture.

WARNING: You some may find this video offensive. You have been warned...

PS: I had a pair of green Addidas trainers back in 1995, would love another pair like them.

Oh Dusty, the video has been censored!    How raunchy was it? ;D ;D ;D
But a spoonful of forgiveness
Goes a long, long way
And we all should do our best

In an effort to steer this Thread away from tennis shoes and back on topic (sorry guys!), I would like to add another link to the ever growing list of music we are sharing.    This next track comes from a jazzy/alternative artist by the name of St. Germain.  According to Lastfm: "St. Germain is the stage name of Ludovic Navarre, a French musician whose style merges jazzy house music with acid jazz."   The following track, entitled SURE THING, comes from his 2000 release, TOURIST, and the song features guitar and vocal work by the late, great John Lee Hooker.  This is simply a groovy, slick and chill song that I think many people here will enjoy.  It is the kind of song you can put on late at night and drink a beer to while smoking a cigar... or whatever you may do to relax!  If you do enjoy this track, also check out the track LAND OF... from the same release.  Here is the track on Lastfm:

http://www.last.fm/music/St.+Germain/_/Sure+Thing?autostart[/url

Peace.

Well, I thought this was OK, not great. Perhaps a bit repetitive. Reminded me of a French band called Air, I have their album Moon Safari which is very good.

Hey. Waterline Man. Where did you get that pic of my wife.? :-*

Dusty. They may well be the same ones. I remember around that time, green was a very popular colour for adidas.

Anyway, musn't detract from the topic. ;) Naughty BBB
