Well, it became an idiotic mistery because he teased us. If he'd just said they were recording a new album and taking their time to finish it there'd be no mistery. He created it. If you can't tell people what you're working on don't keep giving hints away. That was the mistake I think he made.

Sure thing, but sometimes I have the impression Guy does it just to keep his forum relevant.

Just listened to the unreleased track "You don't wanna get you one of those", which Tommy Emmanuel plays live, and made me think about what the possible style of the new/forthcomming album could be. Somehow I get the feeling the next album might be a very jazzy album. I remember Mark once said that he liked the Norah Jones album. As we know Mark is a guy with a vision and he probably realizes that it becomes time for something else then country, folk and blues.

What do you guys and gals think? And would you like MK to put out a jazz album?

I think this TE collaboration has nothing to do with the new album, it just happened that Mark had a suitable song laying in a drawer, which makes me think he have so much brilliant songs just laying around...

Older people seems to became more jazzy by default for some reason, you can find jazz in recent Sting's albums, Paul Simon, Paul McCartney... I don't know why, I always was a jazz nerd right from the childhood, so any Mark's jazz efforts I enjoy very much. In fact, my favourite song of his, The Ragpicker's Dream, is one of his jazziest tunes ever.

I want to hear more jazz, more waltzes, more double bass and strings. Rock'n'Roll? Not so much...

This track is for the next Tommy Emmanuel album and for me, it has a style that MK has used before, like in Quality Shoe or After the beanstalk...
You might get lucky, now and then

I'll take anything Mark releases at this stage really. Rock, jazz, country, folk, blues, celtic, reggae, tango, samba, trance... put all those in the mix and change your name to DJ Mark Straight but release the damn thing already for god's sake!  :lol

"There'll be a rider
And there'll be a wall
As long as the dreamer remains"

I rely on that that Mark knows the best what is up(meant) to be for the next album.

"Well if you're inclined
To go up on the wall
It can only be fast and high"
good one!

Oh my god, I just realised that Tommy Emmanuel's new album is coming NEXT YEAR. Even Tommy's guilty of all this snail mail stuff.

Let's wait for MK2018 and TE2018 now, great.

Guy may be able to fix your motorcycle and spectacles, as Mark liked to say, but he clearly doesn't know how to use his phone and social media. "Studio Diary", wtf. Just take some pics and share them, like everybody does, okay? It's not that difficult. ::)

Yes! As a matter of fact I still can't believe there's no picture of Mark and Eric Clapton recording those JJ Cale songs together. And even if he doesn't want to share anything on Instagram or Facebook, uploading photos onto his website is not rocket science. Guy used to be so proactive, what a shame.

John McCusker (with Mike McGoldrick) is posting on Instagram from Canada while there is currently a band session at BG. Maybe John touring in June/July 2018 does not exclude the possibility of MK touring in 2018?
Or is the band session already over?
