As much as I like Richard I don't like this news. His absence made me believe the MK/EC collaboration was a possibility  :'(

Quote
I think Tommy might have spoiled it a little saying he recorded two songs with Mark. Because that's a really strong hint for a collaboration album with guests, maybe even with Eric Clapton, who knows. Collaboration album with new material only — that sounds so "MK" to me :think

Yeah, I noticed that too... but I was in the hopes it could be a full MK/EC album. Richard being there doesn't necessarily mean it won't be a duets album, especially because he plays pretty much anything with strings, maybe even tennis rackets, but if you think of Mark and Eric only I don't see room for him. Yet another mistery, oh god... I'd promissed myself not to get hooked up on this again  :disbelief

Guys... You really like to dream wild... Don't you?

We're talking about MK, did you forget about it?

You know... He won't do what we want, but what he wants, that usually it's the opposite

It's virtually impossible do tell considering the so called secret project is music related for sure. Just a bunch of top musicians hanging out at BG surrounded by very fancy equipment. They could be doing pretty much anything really.

So... what if I tell Guy we all want a collaboration with Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Bono Vox, a hip hop live performance in Trump's office and a pink Ibanez signature model?  :lol :lol :lol

But yeah, sad but true, you're totally right. I don't know why I keep hoping for what will never come our way.

I really hope that a MK & EC could happen any day, but time goes by and both of them grow old, specially Clapton with several diseases... Last year, with so many news of rock legends dying from one day to another made me feel that they should hurry in doing something together...

However, I think that what MK is doing is just another MK album. If it was something with EC, it would be another secret project, and we won't know that he's even recording, or in the contrary, there will be also info of EC recording. And there are not...

Best thing is expect more of the same and be happy if it's that, and if it's something better, being extremely happy with it!

"I plan to finish this new record for myself that I’ve been chipping away at for so long.  I’ve done some more writing while on tour and will record these tunes, throw them on the pile already in the can, choose the best of it and finally get it all wrapped up.  I’ll also be recording with Mark Knopfler and really looking forward to that.  Some other odds and ends already coming in for sessions so I plan to keep busy through the autumn and winter months"

From Richard's new diary post - http://richard-bennett.com/blog/nashville/664-home-again-2

That is excellent news! I really miss Richard's sound on Tracker and KTGC.

I must admit that I much prefer when it is an album 100% Mark.  That is partly why I like and admire him in the first instance; the fact he is able to complete the whole process on his own and with no shortcomings.  So often it's a case of Jack of all trades, master of none, but with Mark he manages to master all.

Totally agree with you, dmg. It really is what makes him so unique. He knows about it. I love that there is the "MK" signature under all credits/liner notes since .... Love Over Gold? Makes his albums a piece of art somehow.

Someone seems to tease Guy... Asks if release date is April 1st and working title is "Cullercoats" ...
That title would sound very promising to my ears if it was true...

Saw it, too. And it makes me sad.
Although people know Guy is not allowed to give away any news or details, people keep mollesting him, trying to extract any kind of details sometimes asking many times in a row.
The result will be one day no news at all, some spoiling it for all.

There are some sites that publish future releases, I recall seeing in one of those a MK record but without title, with release date of September and TBA as description. I think it was Privateering...

With this kind of teases, I like to see the sources to take it seriously. It's like when the secret project song titles appeared, after it was known the source of the leak, I knew it was something good.

It could make sense because of Guy diary. When there is a band session is because there are songs ready for the band parts. His diary says that next will be in January. So until there it looks like they will have ready more songs for a new band session. Who knows if this is the last and April could be a release date...

I hope it is. September 2018 is so far yet, lol

Cullercoats - where do these guys get this information from? Actually 'Cullercoats' is a village in North East England..  Fits n with the man's heritage. Off we go with the speculation. . . . .
