The only thing I wonder: why did they choose 45rpm for the bonus vinyl instead of 33?

Just my 2 cts : 45 rpm is a classical format (Maxi 45) for 4 titles vinyl disks in Europe (at least as I don't know if it's the case elsewhere ;))

I think because there was enough space for making it a 45, it’s only four song after all.
But it’s a bit strange that as a consequence we end up with bonus tracks in higher resolution / sound quality than the songs on the main album.

Of course, in British Grove Studios and MK's laptop, where fans have no access to.

And some insiders of the management/studios have them, as well.  that's why we have back in the day lyrics on MK.com and soundbits on MKNews.  But they, cannot share.

So technically, if fans transfer vinyls to wav files on pc, do we get degrade of the sound quality?  Or can we get lossless sound quality from that process with proper equipment?

No, you can’t get lossless quality that way. Though the subject of analogue v digital remains controversial, any process which involves cutting an analogue disc from a master (whether that was analog or digital - do we know?) inevitably involves loss. As does pumping the result, however good the turntable etc, back through an analog to digital converter.

All the same, if that’s the only way those of us without a turntable can get to hear the damn tracks, I’ll live with the lossiness!

As  Onlinegoon525  explained the problem is the vinyl step itself

But a proper vinyl rip will give good result.

A lot of confusion here...
The lossy / lossless debate is relevant when comparing digital files - some being lossy, i.e. using psychoacoustic algorithms to eliminate some low volume frequencies at some times, like MP3) and some being lossless (I.e. pure digital samples without such compression, e.g. FLAC files or Redbook CD).
Vinyl is analog, not digital. By proper digitalisation with both appropriate horizontal resolution (>40khz, since we can't hear above 20khz, and Shannon tells us to use a sampling frequency at least twice the max) and vertical resolution (16 bits with proper dither like properly produced CDs, or 24 bits), you will restitute perfectly all the audio information contained in the original vinyl. Of course if you use proper equipment along the way, and especially a good Analog/Digital Converter.
Vinyl can definitely sound very good, but digital can do just as good. The vinyl revival is emotional and artistic (nice 12'' art covers) but not rational.

Thanks, very interesting. Awaiting opposite opinions here  ;D as usual ...

How comes that vinyl people use terms like "warmer" and "fuller" when explaining their love for it?
