Very good 'Hardish' interview, just find it very sad personally he doesn't contact his brother and it didn't seem to phase him when the question was asked - a casualty of the business.....
But it does beg the question of Money over family... :disbelief

Finally he actually agrees he was trapped in DS and that by going solo he can now do what he wants musically and thats also evident that he's moved on from that......

So love to see a video of this....

Maybe art over family would be a better description, and I can kind of understand that to a point, creativity is a compulsion and nothing can ever stand in its way. Shouldn't stop you being on speaking terms with your nearest and dearest though....

MK is definitely squirming with some of those questions....

Could this be (among other things) about David?

"Haul Away"

It was a windless night when you left the ship
You never were a steady bold one
I gave my hand, ah, but you did slip
I'm a living man and you're a cold one
Haul away, haul away for home

My love's as fair as a girl can be
My wedding ring is a heavy gold one
Now you lie alone in the deep dark sea
I'm a living man and you're a cold one
Haul away, haul away for home

The morning brings, Lord, a fresh young breeze
To fill our sails and end the doldrums
Our lucky ship speeds across the sea
I'm a living man and you're a cold one
Haul away, haul away for home

Welcome privinvest,  good call....certain words/phrases could well be interpreted as the division between the two brothers...

I'm aware of both the Master & Commander novel by Patrick O' Brian and also the film starring Russell Crowe but that as may be but I like how some of the lines of the song could well be interpreted as MKs feelings towards David....

Yes, I know he's a fan of Patrick O'Brian books. And I won't insist on the David thing but a song can be about more than one thing. And Mark is too clever a guy (not) to hide it behind other references. "Plausible deniability" if you like. I like Mark as if he's my older brother. But my hunch is he was a very tough older brother. Perhaps too demanding, harsh with his criticism etc. I don't know that much about the details but as if David has never recovered from being "expelled" from the band. Maybe he was not talented, hardworking, dedicated enough, I don't know. But Mark should/could have find a way to overcome their estrangement, as the older brother, as the one who is responsible about the David decision, as the one who was more successful etc. I'm sure he has tried but perhaps not hard enough.

Quite odd 'interview format' for Mark, or any musician, to take part in. Just to talk music and music business, I mean.

Interesting, though, to watch Mark's non-verbal communication.
